Job Posting:

Purpose of the Position:

The Finance Central Processor’s purpose is to ensure that all UMA Student Finance departments remain in compliance when determining, awarding, disbursing, and returning Federal Student Aid (FSA) funds and to provide periodic quality assurance evaluations of our current processes and procedures.

 

The Finance Central Processor reports to the Manager, Senior Manager, or Associate Director, Student Finance.

 

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

  • Anticipated starting rate of $20.00 per hour

Key Responsibilities:

 

Functional:

  • Receives and reviews student files for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensures that the Title IV aid is awarded to the student’s FSA eligibility.
  • Returns incorrect or incomplete files to the Student Finance Advisors.
  • Approves federal student loans and readies the files for origination for all UMA campuses.
  • Reviews and approves Pell awards for all UMA campuses.
  • Has a thorough understanding of all facets of Title IV knowledge and abides by the appropriate Department of Education and Compliance regulations.
  • Adheres to the Director’s goals and metrics for the Finance Central team.
  • Answers Advisors or Planners questions regarding Title IV and Student Finance policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Compliance:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

 

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • 6 months of experience in awarding/administering Federal Title IV funds with a post-secondary education institution.
  • Knowledge of Title IV regulations.
  • Must not have a federal student loan appearing on the National Student Loan Data Base (NSLDS) database with an unresolved default status reported.
  • Must be eligible to access the NSLDS.
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, handle a high-pressure environment with timeline pressures, and meet deadlines.
  • Personal honest and integrity with a demonstrated commitment to ethics, morals, legal business practices and standards.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision and direction.
  • Able to professionally communicate fluently in verbal and written English with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to regulations and compliance
  • Maintain compliance of Student Finance departments in areas of determining and awarding disbursements and returning FSA funds
  • Ability to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Ability to display a positive attitude and enthusiasm.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Skype and Microsoft Teams
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Comprehensive experience with Campus Nexus
  • 2 years’ experience in the higher education industry
  • 2 years’ experience at UMA

 

Working Environment:

  • This is a full-time remote position
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Requires occasional bending, stooping and squatting
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
