Territory Manager

Long Island, New York

 

Merchants Insurance Group, is a leading Property and Casualty Super Regional Insurer in the Northeast, and is looking for an experienced Territory Manager to join our Eastern Strategic Business Center (ESBC) Regional Operations team. 

The Territory Manager will work from home and report to our ESBC Regional office located in Hauppauge, New York.  The Territory Manager will manage the growth and profitability metrics for an assigned territory located throughout Long Island, New York by adding value to our agency partners by developing and executing individual agency business plans that support our mutual goals.  

The Territory Manager is responsible for managing the growth and profitability of professional independent agents in their assigned territory, adding value to our agency partners by developing and by implementing customized business & marketing plans that support our mutual goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Cultivating solid relationships with Agents while working towards achieving the most optimal outcomes for Merchants, your assigned territory and our policyholders.
  • Achieving direct written premium & profit goals for assigned territory by leveraging key agency relationships, Merchants value added services and an outstanding agency compensation package.
  • Managing and developing agents through a combination of in person and virtual individual and group agency calls. These agency calls form the basis of cultivating intimate professional relationships with agency customers – which differentiate Merchants from the competition.
  • Providing competitive intelligence to assist Sales and Product Development with product enhancements, rate revisions and building competitive selling advantages.
  • The ability to travel for approximately 80% of the work week.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

  • College degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 plus years’ experience in the P&C industry to include both underwriting and sales/marketing background. Prior experience working on Long Island preferred.
  • Property and Casualty insurance related coursework is a plus i.e. CPCU.
  • Previous Agency relationships within the local insurance industry are highly desirable.
  • The ability to travel for approximately 80% of the work week.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

 

Merchants Insurance Group Pay information:

Merchants Insurance Group offers a competitive pay scale.  The actual compensation will be determined based upon experience and other factors permitted by law.  The pay range for this position is $90,360 - $131,638.
