Your missions

Overview:

Kimley-Horn's Oakland office is seeking a Transporation Planner with 3+ years of experience to join their Transportation Planning/Traffic Safety team! This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities:

The ideal person will be interested in performing a variety of tasks associated with Traffic Safety for our Transportation team, including many of the following:

  • Tracking action items for various projects and tasks.
  • Writing detailed reports that will include formatting and applying graphics.
  • Traffic Safety Analysis.
  • Desire to interact with clients; federal, state, regional, and local agencies; community organizations; and academic institutions.
  • Develop and foster meaningful relationships with clients, stakeholders and the communities we serve.
  • Lead project coordination efforts including managing stakeholder groups and maintaining multiple stakeholder databases and contacts.
  • Perform task management duties such as guiding analysis in research, report writing, and coordinating stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop and implement strategic communications and engagement plans that address the needs and include approaches to integrate equity and incorporate the perspective of underserved populations.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement activities including guiding the direction of stakeholder engagement, developing effective materials for presentations using approved branded materials, meeting with stakeholder members and organizations to explain transportation safety initiatives, impacts, and benefits, etc.
  • Conduct research and gather information for multiple projects.
  • Develop succinct meeting minutes and distribute action item summaries.
  • Create and review content for tactical media—including email, fliers, press releases, presentations, newsletters, and announcements.
  • Have a track record of back-checking produced work for quality as is part of our QC process.
  • GIS mapping, developing engagement tools, surveys, websites.
  • Develop reports, documents, and spreadsheets using Microsoft Suite applications.
  • Be a team player and be looking for individual career growth.
Qualifications:
  • 3 years or more experience within Transportation Planning.
  • Passion for working on innovative projects that improve traffic safety in the community.
  • BA/BS degree from an accredited university in the field of Communications, English, Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, Landscape Architecture, Economics,
  • Geography (work experience in these fields may be combined with a degree not on this list).
  • Advanced degree a plus, ideally in Transportation Planning or similar related field.
  • Prefer technical skills in technical writing and data analysis.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and ESRI ArcGIS a plus.
  • Experience communicating and working with clients.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with and balance priorities among multiple projects and project managers.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Nice to Have

  • Coordinating with and supporting public agencies by evaluating all causal issues related to fatal and serious injury crashes.
  • Supporting the selection and implementation of safety countermeasures for Engineers, Law Enforcement, Educators, and Emergency Response.
  • Planning annual events/conferences, coordinating logistics for stakeholder meetings, public engagement/outreach, public meetings

Salary Range: $100,000 to $135,000
