Overview

This position is responsible for supporting the Senior Corporate Accountant and ensuring accounting is completed in accordance with US GAAP. This position would support internal and external audits and financial reporting around. Performs traditional general accounting functions such as general ledger, reconciliations, journal entries, Ad-hoc analysis and assist with month end closings. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial analysis. Preparing monthly entries and reconciliations as part of the month end close process. Be cross trained in all aspects of the month-end close. Help modify and design processes to improve the monthly close process, analyze results and improve overall supporting documentation. To be successful within the role, the individual should be opened minded, have a willingness to learn, a desire to present quality, accurate work with an attention to the details, and collaborate with the team.

Responsibilities

  • A solid understanding of accounting principles in order to be prepared to learn and perform complex journal entries as needed
  • Assist with all aspects of month-end close process
  • Prepare monthly profit and loss analytics, amortization schedules, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entries.
  • Ability to problem solve and work through resolution.
  • Comply with SOX controls and processes.
  • Support quarterly reporting financial statement tie-outs
  • Prepare ad-hoc requests for account analysis and propose solutions or insight to the activity
  • Reconciles balance sheet and income statement accounts and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist with the annual and interim financial audit requests if needed

 

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business or related field -Required

Work Experience

3-7 years In Accounting or related field - Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred

  • Knowledge of accounting concepts and Generally Accepted Accounting Practices.
  • Ability to research, analyze and evaluate complex problems and recommend solutions.
  • Basic understanding of procedures to ensure compliance and internal controls.
  • Proficient in computer applications (particularly in Excel), such as Microsoft Office software products.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for digging into issues.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work across functions.
  • Initiative to identify and drive improvements.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and with limited supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to business audiences.
  • Ability to grasp the big picture for a solution by considering all potential options and impacted areas.
  • Effectively manage their time to meet deadlines and commitments for our organization.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to a high quality of work.

Basic Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 yearly salary

The salary offered within this range will be based on the selected candidates’ skills, experience, education, market data, and internal parity. DLH may offer other rewards that may include performance incentives and program-specific awards.  An applicant’s salary history will not be used to determine compensation.
