The base salary range for a SVP-Sales & Account Management role is $253,000--$397,000.  Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

Overview  

The SVP Sales & Account Management is a key member of the leadership team with primary responsibility for providing leadership in driving annual sales and retention with an emphasis on increasing penetration of all the company’s products throughout the LSV and USAble distribution and sales channels, with a primary focus on Blue Cross Blue Shield business partners. The SVP will oversee the Life, Disability, Supplemental and Dental sales, and account management function for both group and individual products. The role serves as a key interface with our external partners, sales agencies, and brokers. 

Essential Job Functions  

  • Forms deep, effective relationships with our Partners’ key sales leadership to achieve annual sales goals including a comprehensive understanding of channel distribution within each partner and their key stakeholders. 
  • Establishes annual and three-year sales plans incorporating state specific sales plans in consultation with senior leadership (C-Suite) to be approved by CEO. 
  • Increases sales of existing books of business including improving penetration of partner Blue plans, while achieving retention goals ensuring the organization attains or exceeds revenue and profit goals. 
  • Develops and effectively communicates vision and strategy. Creates innovative and assertive sales strategies that deliver profitable sales. 
  • Creates and leads an effective and efficient sales and account management organization, including tightly managing expenses, sales staff compensation, and partner/broker compensation programs resulting in a measurably effective sales expense to revenue ratio. 
  • Partners with the HR Compensation team to develop and implement competitive compensation practices and reward/recognition programs that drive high performance and attract and retain talent. 
  • Staff’s positions with qualified, high performing, scalable, motivated professionals who consistently generate and manage sales pipeline distribution to achieve established goals and continually develop their capabilities. 
  • Achieves consistently smooth running, client-responsive operations that are aligned with the priorities, initiatives, and operations of the Life & Disability and Dental sales and account management function and with the overall business. 
  • Oversees the sales effectiveness function, which is responsible for optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales department by driving digital transformation and enhancing tools, processes, and programs.  
  • Oversees the sales enablement function, which is responsible for identifying education and training opportunities and developing and executing plans to drive organization and individual behavior changes to improve sales results.  
  • Consistently challenges and influences team to deliver clear and measurable outcomes and demonstrates a relentless focus on customer acquisition, retention, value and customer satisfaction 
  • Works in partnership with product and marketing teams to implement sales plans that support long-range growth, successful business partnerships and financial profitability. 
  • Works with partnership management to understand overall partner relationships and to assist with defining gaps and solutions necessary to execute annual new sales and retention results. 

  • Analyzes existing and new business opportunities, developing a thorough understanding of market conditions, demand for products, and resource requirements to properly support business goals. 
  • Engages in other activities as may be necessary for the growth and continued success of the business in accordance with the company’s mission, vision, and values 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience required.  
  • 10-15 years of experience, with a minimum of 8 years’ industry experience with ancillary benefits, insurance carriers and brokers. 
  • Demonstrated success in field sales leadership position with a national insurance carrier with demonstrated effectiveness in growing profitable revenue.  
  • Demonstrated ability to grow and expand Sales and Account Management talent 
  • Extensive experience in Group Ancillary and Group Health products, with experience in driving ancillary sales through a Group Health organization.   
  • Experience working with Benefit Brokers, Consultants and HRIS Technology vendors. 
  • Visionary leader with demonstrated planning and communications skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with Underwriting, Product, Marketing and Operations departments to drive profitable sales results. 
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and lead a business through a transformation.  
  • Demonstrated success in concurrently working multiple projects with changing priorities.  
  • Demonstrated knowledge of business operations, management practices and principals, and current landscape of employee benefits industry.  
  • Effective collaborator (with staff, peers, senior leaders, carriers, brokers and vendors).  
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to impact and influence decision making.  
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage working relationships up, down and across the enterprise. 
  • Promotes collaboration, teamwork, trust, customer focus, and effective execution.  
  • Ability to travel at least 50% of the time.
  • Close proximity to a USAble Life Market (AL, AR, FL, ID, NC, OR, TN, UT, WA) required

Preferred 

  • Master’s Degree in related field. 
  • Experience with Individual Supplemental products a plus. 
  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield experience.
