Your missions

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime payments platform from the ground up. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we build a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.

Our Distinguished Engineer works with our engineers and engineering leaders to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems as well as identify new opportunities to apply their knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise in their domain.

Responsibilities

  • Define the engineering direction and roadmap for the Payments Platform Engineering team that aligns with business goals
  • Lead the development of our payments platform meeting goals for security, resilience, compliance and correctness
  • Hold a high bar on technical decision making, and setting a standard for engineering artifacts that the team creates, such as code and design docs
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster a culture of constant learning
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on the payments engineering domain and making recommendations for adoption
  • Triage and resolve service disruptions, and build industry standard mechanism for prevention and self-healing
  • Influence and educate leadership at all levels

Qualifications

  • Deep hands-on experience in full stack system design and implementation of payments and finance systems
  • Exemplary ability for system architecture, and influencing engineering direction and product roadmap
  • Hands-on experience building platforms using resiliency patterns, observability, continuous delivery and infrastructure as code
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a focus on delivering results and driving continuous improvement
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and all levels of leadership
  • Experience with developer tooling for cloud-based and cloud-native solutions across the software development life cycle
  • Fluency and specialization with at least two modern languages such as GO, Java, Python or C# including object-oriented design
  • Fluency in DevOps, cloud native architecture, open-source monitoring and telemetry
  • Experience with Finance, Billing and Payment platforms preferred

Experience

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience within a GO or Java framework (J2EE, web containers and Java/GO)
  • 8+ years of experience with architecture and design
  • 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks
  • 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience

Annual Salary

$120,000.00 - $300,500.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
