Who We Are

Second Harvest is Canada’s largest food rescue organization and is a global thought leader on perishable food redistribution. We work with thousands of food businesses from across the supply chain to redirect unsold surplus food to non-profit organizations that feed communities in every province and territory. Our mission is to keep food where it belongs: On plates and out of landfills.

The Role

The Foodraising Manager (Atlantic Canada) will travel extensively throughout Atlantic Canada to engage food businesses to source surplus, unsold food for donation. This position will primarily focus on prospecting midstream and upstream food businesses, including producers, processors, manufacturers, distributors, and wholesalers.  Additionally, this role will collaborate with our Retail & Foodservice team to engage regional retailers and foodservice chains in Atlantic Canada to use the Second Harvest Food Rescue App. The Foodraising Manager (Atlantic Canada) will implement and maintain a strategic food donor acquisition and retention plan, foster strong relationships with food donors, and work closely with the Atlantic Operations team to rescue and redistribute food products to our non-profit network.

  • Engage lapsed donors as well as donors who are decreasing their food donation support to ensure consistent food donations.
  • Collaborate with regional stakeholder groups, institutions, and industry associations to promote Second Harvest’s service offerings (e.g. universities, producer associations, marketing associations).
  • Help implement a food donor retention plan that celebrates and retains food donors by ensuring appropriate donor stewardship and recognition.
  • Deliver presentations and participate in speaking engagements with businesses with the goal of increasing food donor acquisition and retention.
  • Act as a key contact for Second Harvest when exhibiting at regional trade shows/conferences, manage load-in and load-out and oversee booth as exhibitor, network with potential food donors, organize and lead post-event food collections.
  • Create various reports on food recovery as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the organization.
