Purpose of the Position:

The Director, Learner Services Training is responsible for implementing long-term strategies revolving learner experience which ultimately support new hire onboarding experience and department staff attrition goals. They will manage and maintain all Learner Services training material and ensuring the materials are up to date. Directs a manager of training and team of Learner Services Training Specialist, ensuring their production of creative and compliant materials for new hires and their delivery of ongoing recurring training for tenured team members. Communicates and ensures appropriate adherence to policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison to other departments to increase internal communication channels between them.  Assists in the deployment of best practices, new processes, system upgrades and other efficiencies.

 

The Director, Learner Services Training reports to the Associate Vice President of Learner Services.

  • Anticipated starting salary of $80,000; pay rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Functional:

  • Implement long term strategies for optimizing learner experiences.
  • Assists the team in the development and delivery of new training courses associated with customer service, compliance updates and Learner Services processes and procedures.
  • Ensure that areas of non-compliance are addressed and resolved in a timely manner and appropriate training is implemented to ensure compliance.
  • Develops and updates Policy & Procedures as needed.
  • Assists and manages the team that creates, maintains, and provides all training materials for Learner Services new hires.
  • Approves all training material and ensures weekly trainings are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Provides observational feedback regarding development of skills of employees.
  • Evaluates all new hires and ensures the Training Team are providing successful trainings.
  • Fosters healthy relationships with the leadership teams in UMA to ensure strong communication and develop new materials.
  • Monitors where improvement is needed and uses innovative and creative ideas to launch new training material.
  • Works with necessary committees and teams within the organization to foster and promote UMA’s guiding principles.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistical data for the purpose of improving institutional operations.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and Learner Services management to resolve team member issues and concerns.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and projects as assigned.

Technical:

  • Initiates, and manages automation, process improvement and integration projects.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining systems used to support student success and team development.
  • Approves and assists team with professional and informative power points to use as support in the trainings to the team.
  • Compiles and Analyzes statistical data for the purpose of improving business operations.

Team Member Leadership

  • Build a strong culture of accountability
  • Create and implement an effective onboarding plan for every team member
  • Recruit, train and develop a team with skills and experience aligned to meet UMA’s needs and the market with a focus on retention of team members
  • Set clear expectations for all Team Members. Analyze goals, activities and results to determine action plans to improve individual and team performance per stated performance management guidelines.
  • Ensure that UMA values are being demonstrated and policies are being followed.

Support Institutional Initiatives

  • Keep current on institutional goals, objectives, and progress
  • Engage in institutional sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate
  • Lead with courage in support of change initiatives that impact organization
  • Manages and assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA 

Compliance:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Able to professionally communicate in verbal and written English
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Skype and Microsoft Teams
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment

Preferred Requirements:

  • Two or more years’ experience in department leader for Learning and Development
  • Two or more years’ experience of virtual training

Working Environment:

  • Office Environment/Call Center – Must be able to work in the UMA Office
  • Any other equipment that is essential to the role? Specific phone type for example?
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Requires ability to travel
  • Requires occasional bending, stooping and squatting
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
