Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Lead Preschool Teacher at the Emory Autism Center (EAC) organizes and conducts day-to-day educational activities for children ages 12 months to 5 years of age, to children with and without autism spectrum disorder in an inclusive preschool classroom.
  • Working with the program coordinator, develops appropriate curriculum for the classroom.
  • Creates, organizes and provides educational activities and support to promote language, social, and adaptive behavior development.
  • Supervises teaching staff in developing and implementing activity, preparation, set-up and clean-up as well as classroom environmental set-up.
  • Monitors child activity and behavior within the classroom.
  • Ensures compliance with state, university, and practice policies and procedures for all staff.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, behavioral science, or related field preferred and three years of experience working with in early childhood education.
  • Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation and pass a background check.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Early Childhood Education degree/credential/certificate strongly preferred.
  • At least one year experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities preferred.

 

This position could be for our Ladybugs classroom (12months-2years) or our Butterflies classroom (3-4 year olds).

 

NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
