Digital Ocean’s Strategy group is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manager of Capacity Analytics, who will report to the Fleet Infrastructure Senior Director of Engineering, in the CTO Organization. 

You will be supporting the deployment and maintenance of our ever growing physical infrastructure through providing actionable insights to our key stakeholders (e.g., Infrastructure, Procurement, Finance, Product) . 

You will be responsible for building and managing the team that already maintains our core Capacity reporting and analytics functions, including key inputs into our Capex roadmap and for future expansion as we continue to grow.  

You will be working closely with various infrastructure and engineering teams to help plan for customer demand and ensure that supply is in place. You will dig deep into underlying data alongside our DNA and Data Science teams to provide recommendations and mitigate capacity concerns.

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Oversee the forecasting for all our key Capacity and Usage metrics, including overseeing usage buffers
  • Work with Finance, Infrastructure, and Product on developing business cases for deploying additional Capex / expansions
  • Work with a team of data scientists and capacity modelers to build out long term forecasts for our data centers and translate this into budget recommendations
  • Provide longer-term insights into our future strategy including issues like site selection, research and analysis for new markets, and replacing existing equipment
  • Monitor, manage, and investigate our daily capacity changes, working with stakeholders to ensure that we’re staying ahead of any issues
  • Apprentice an existing team of capacity modelers and planners to continuously improve our forecasting, automation, and tooling
What You'll Need:
  • At least 5 years of combined relevant work experience in Capacity modeling, management, and analytics roles
  • Deep familiarity with key cloud infrastructure and their related capacity metrics , including a deep understanding and experience with compute and storage
  • 2+ years of minimum related experience managing a team of technically inclined professionals and experience working in a cross-functional / matrix environment with many stakeholders
  • Experience with developing budgets and business cases related to cloud and storage technologies (e.g., capex requirements)
  • Experience finding creative solutions to time sensitive analytical problems
  • The ability to manage multiple projects/tasks with differing deadlines

Employees may qualify for a bonus in addition to base salary; bonus amounts are determined based on company and individual performance.
