Job Posting:

Purpose of the Position:

The Faculty Training Facilitator works professionally and collaboratively with members of the Education Leadership Team across all campuses to develop and deliver training, and mentoring for new faculty candidates.  The Faculty Training Facilitator will also mentor and develop continuing faculty through annual effective teaching training offerings, pop-up trainings, and 1:1 support as needed to introduce or reinforce skills, use of tools and strategies, and best practices to support student learning and instructor efficiency.

The Faculty Training Facilitator reports to the title of Manager, Faculty and Staff Development

 

UMA is a nonprofit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus. 

  • Anticipated starting salary of $58,000; pay rate negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

 

Functional:

  • Develops training materials and communications that promote the Education training and development brand, including training plans, instructional and presentation materials, and handouts, i.e., one-voices, guides, FAQs
  • Prepares, maintains, reproduces, and assembles training resources for faculty, new product/system training, and professional development for the Education department and Education-driven cross department and/or institutional trainings
  • Offers instructional support to faculty via Teams, email, phone, and in person
  • Supports Education department and program leadership to identify performance improvements and solutions to performance gaps.
  • Designs, compiles and consolidates survey feedback from training sessions to improve quality.
  • Ensures that internal processes and policies are followed and in full compliance with policies and requirements of regulatory bodies.
  • Provides regular updates to manager on progress of individual instructors and copies the Program Director on all communication.
  • Facilitates training for new and continuing faculty, selects and prepares internal guest speakers for topic delivery for any given audience.
  • Proactively reviews and shares market knowledge on teaching and learning as well as development trends through departmental communications.
  • Participates in faculty/instructional focus groups and/or faculty roundtable discussions

Technical:

  • Navigates within Brightspace courses for troubleshooting or problem-solving with/for instructors.
  • Effectively uses Teams and other virtual presentation tools for presenting trainings that are live and/or recorded.
  • Creates screencast videos as needed
  • Learns how to use new tools for instructor use or training development as they are adopted.


Support Institutional Initiatives

  • Keeps current on institutional goals, objectives, and progress
  • Engages in institutional sponsored activities and initiatives as appropriate
  • Leads with courage in support of change initiatives that impact organization
  • Manages and assists in coordinating efforts between departments within UMA

Compliance:

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the Department of Education, accrediting agencies, CIE, and internal UMA policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicates compliance requirements to students and other staff as appropriate and quickly escalates any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

 

Work Experience, Skills & Abilities:

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Able to professionally communicate and present in verbal and written English
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Teams
  • Experience facilitating courses or training in remote or in person environment
  • Demonstrated ability quickly learn and adopt new online tools
  • Able to support a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Detail and deadline oriented, flexible to rapid change
  • Current UMA Online faculty member employed for at least six (6) months and in good standing, meeting all accreditation requirements
  • OR Qualified to teach one or more courses for UMA and teach 2 times within the first six (6) months beginning role.

Preferred Requirements:

 

  • Advanced degree in education, training, or a related field
  • Experience developing and leading online training sessions
  • Experience presenting to a hybrid audience

 

Working Environment:

  • This is a hybrid position that will require remote as well as onsite training delivery and support at the Clearwater Campus, North Florida location, and other sites as needed
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed

 

Physical Demands:

  • Requires long periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
  • Requires occasional bending, stooping and squatting
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs
