Your missions

 

Penguin Random House Publisher Services is seeking an Executive Managing Editor to join our team servicing our client Square Enix, home to award-winning and bestselling series such as My Dress-Up Darling and Soul Eater, and the Final Fantasy franchise. The successful candidate will have exceptional project management skills, including the ability to keep a score of titles at different stages of the editorial process organized and in motion, and a strong communication toolbox to ensure editors and freelancers achieve schedule milestones. A passion for manga/anime, comics, and/or Japanese culture is a plus.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Draft, track, and manage seasonal publishing schedules. 

  • Set and enforce editorial production deadlines, working closely with both in-house staff and freelancers. 

  • Request books, art files, and other assets from licensors as necessary and manage subsequent receipt of files. 

  • Manage approvals, rate requests, and client queries. 

  • Enter and maintain key metadata for all titles in PRH databases, and run weekly production meetings. 

  • Manage a staff of three. 

 

Requirements:

  • At least 8 years of managing editorial experience or project management experience in an adjacent field.  

  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. 

  • Proven ability to build relationships with a professional demeanor, be a reliable point of contact, and manage the tasks of others. 

  • Prior supervision of a staff beginning with recruitment, onboarding, managing performance, and empowering them to achieve goals. 

  • Proficiency at Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams). 

  • Familiarity with FileMaker, SAP, InDesign and/or other publishing project management software preferred. 

 

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$86,000. All positions are currently eligible for annual profit award or bonus, subject to Company results.

The salary range listed is specific to each particular open position and takes into account various factors including the specifics of the individual role, and candidate's relevant experience and qualifications.
