Your missions

Account Director or Senior Account Director

An account director is a senior contact for clients within the agency. They manage and oversee teams to ensure campaigns are developed and delivered and client service expectations are met. Commercially minded and creative in nature, the account director is adept at building relationships with members of the media, industry spokespeople, executives, key opinion leaders and others. They direct and lead teams, projects, providing counsel to clients and teams. As a senior member of the business, they deliver new business and grow existing accounts.


**Biotech industry experience strongly preferred**


Responsibilities:

  • Lead clients and teams; gaining and sustaining client trust by delivering timely results and strategic recommendations
  • Maintain deep knowledge of clients and the industry, including trends and issues that may affect clients, their competitors and stakeholders
  • Serve as main client contact for day-to-day activities; drive client and internal meetings
  • Review and provide counsel on written materials, ensure documents are strategic, accurate, and well written
  • Work with senior leaders to develop recommendations and presentations to clients and prospects, including writing portions of plans and presentations
  • Drive client and internal meetings
  • Oversee client budgets; prepare invoice summaries
  • Supervise staff; delegate and assign tasks to appropriate team members and provide guidance to meet client needs and encourage team member growth
  • Work with account teams to manage timelines, develop action plans and counsel clients
  • Oversee media strategy development 
  • Participate in determining staffing allocations and account projections
  • Be the go-to resource on team for billing and resource allocation; flag budget and staffing issues 
  • Participate in new business discussions; own portions of new business presentations, including strategy and tactical development; able to help identify organic growth opportunities that span H+C services (PR, IMC, etc.) and work cross collaboratively to secure and staff the work
  • Coach and mentor staff; complete regular goals reviews and evaluations for direct reports according to agency policies

 

Accountability:

  • Unfailingly reliable; ensures client work is completed, meeting or exceeding expectations, while supporting team members
  • Proactively flags to senior leaders and/or clients when projects are at risk and identify solutions 
  • Acts and works independently to deliver results and solve problems; brings in senior leadership when needed 
  • Manages individual and team time to hours allocated; records hours daily in Harvest
  • Meets or beats deadlines and manages team to deadlines; clearly communicates when deadlines shift and reallocates resources according to priorities
  • Works according to H+C Operating Principles in all interactions
  • Represents the agency responsibly to H+C clients and new business prospects, adding value whenever possible

 

Qualifications:

  • A. or B.S degree in communications, PR, marketing, business administration or related field
  • Able to provide strategic counsel on a regular basis; identifying how to overcome obstacles and deliver results
  • Proficient knowledge of biotech, pharma, and/or medtech space
  • Minimum 6-7 years agency experience or mix of agency and in-house biotech/medtech experience for AD level; 9-10 years experience for senior AD
  • Excellent time management skills and attention to detail
  • Mastery of media materials development; expert written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive, collegial work environment
