Job description

The Clinical Regulatory Content Writer (1099 Contractor) – Hospice has the primary responsibility to draft and update hospice regulatory policy content for incorporation into HealthCare ConsultLink online manuals. The Content Writer is responsible for researching state and federal regulations, drafting appropriate policy content, and participating in regular monitoring for changes that will require updates to ensure materials remain compliant. The Content Writer does so while promoting and maintaining the integrity of HealthCare ConsultLink.

Job Qualifications:
Licensure: Must possess a current RN license in the home state and be willing to apply for additional licensure in other states, as needed
Experience: At least five (5) years of experience in the hospice industry; additional experience in the home health industry is preferred but not required. Must have knowledge of clinical and regulatory hospice guidelines and have clinical application knowledge of core components and application of clinical best practices.

Skills: Must be able to read and write in English and follow instruction. Also, the Content Writer should possess reasonable knowledge in computer systems and be able to communicate well both verbally and through written documentation. Must possess excellent writing skills, including appropriate use of grammar, spelling, and punctuation. Attention to detail and focus on regulatory correctness are required. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is not required, but is preferred.

  • The employee should possess knowledge of Microsoft Office with a proficiency in Microsoft Word; additional proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
  • Ability to work remotely with a high level of self-discipline for meeting deadlines
  • Must effectively communicate in writing and verbally across all levels of personnel
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with members of the HealthCare ConsultLink team
  • Professional demeanor, self-motivated, dependable, and organized

Transportation: Reliable transportation and valid and current auto insurance
Travel: Occasional travel only (<10%)
Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred; previous experience may be acceptable in the absence of a Bachelor’s degree

Environmental and Working Conditions:
Works independently in a remote setting with virtual and telephonic coordination and collaboration with team. To promote a high level of productivity through standard work schedule with flexibility as needed and approved by managers. Ability to travel for internal meetings with potential exposure to inclement weather.

Physical and Mental Effort:
Must be able to work under stressful conditions and time constraints or projects. Work requires sitting for long periods of time, bending, and stretching for files and office supplies. May occasionally require lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.

Essential Functions:

  • Effectively demonstrate the mission, vision, and values of HCL on a daily basis
  • Demonstrates and supports the core values of HCL while holding peer team members accountable for adhering to them
  • Demonstrates a high level of knowledge of regulatory guidelines and requirements impacting hospice agencies
  • Review industry regulations to understand and interpret the content and determine the need for agency policy
  • Using references from industry regulations, draft new policies to reflect requirements while also providing applicability in the agency setting
  • Utilize critical thinking skills and judgement to understand the risks and downstream impact of a changes to policies
  • Assist client agency contacts as needed questions regarding HCL policies and application in the agency setting
  • Monitor assigned regulatory sources for changes impacting policy manual content
  • Edit existing policies to reflect changes in state or federal regulations
  • Responsible for managing assignments in a professional manner while providing a high level of customer service to client agency subscribers
  • Upon request, assist with special projects that require experienced clinical staff input
  • Provides training and support to other members of the consulting team, as needed
  • Acts in a manner that is compliant with company policies and expectations
  • Develops educational content and/or communications upon request; will perform education as designated in coordination with HCL managers and team members
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all local, state, and federal laws relating to operations of HCL
  • Contributes to HCL team efforts to achieve and surpass business goals and objectives
  • Carries out other duties in support of the CEO and managers at HCL
