The Health Policy Researcher will assist the Director of Health Policy with research and outreach for the Health Policy Department.  The Health Policy Researcher will support the policy work of the company and the Health Services Coalition by tracking, researching, reviewing, and summarizing local, state, federal and private entity healthcare action that might impact Fund and Coalition strategy.

 

The work includes corporate research, attending local, state, and federal hearings, monitoring related local, state, and federal healthcare regulations, researching federal, state, and local programs, gathering data and other activities related to health care, healthcare quality, healthcare spending, and cost containment initiatives.

 

This position will provide key assistance with preparing for and attending policy related meetings and events for any state-based policy work as determined by Fund (our companies) leadership.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

• Review, identify, track, and summarize federal, state, community and private entity healthcare action which might impact the Fund (ie. the company).

• Support briefing of Fund staff as needed on healthcare policy which might impact the Fund and the Health Services Coalition.

• Conduct research and attend federal hearings on healthcare, healthcare costs, healthcare models and healthcare cost related matters.

• Analyze legislation and regulations related to healthcare in order to disseminate research and policy information as appropriate.

• Prepare high quality written project updates, summaries, reports, presentations and other documents as assigned or needed for different audiences.

• Track, analyze, and summarize hospital and provider quality scores, financial performance, and market share (to extent information is available).

• Assist leadership in developing policy positions on key issues.

• Participate in and support community and regulatory work groups and coalitions as assigned.

• Manage community projects assigned, independently and within timeframes.

• As appropriate, attend meetings, hearings, and other events on healthcare issues.

• Coordinate and/or deliver testimony, research, and presentations for community and legislative meetings.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATION

• 2 ~ 4 years’ experience working for an organization involved in healthcare strongly preferred.

• 2 ~ 4 years research and strategic plan development for community initiatives regarding healthcare or economic justice.

• Understanding of the federal legislative process gained through collaborative work with federal partners and/or legislative assistance through campaigns, community engagement, legislative involvement, or related experience.

• Understanding of state legislative process gained through campaigns, community engagement, legislative involvement, or related experience.

• Strong knowledge about healthcare and cost issues.

• Associate in healthcare administration, public health, public policy, or related field; or equivalent work experience required. Bachelor’s preferred.

• State legislative experience a plus.

 

Salary range for this position: Salary $91,100 - $113,900. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to: relevant experience, qualifications, expertise, certifications, licenses, education or equivalent work experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.

Work Schedule (may vary to meet business needs): Monday~Friday, 7.5 hours per day (37.5 hours per week) and is a remote position with some travel (ave. 5-15%).
