Overview:

  • The salary for this position is $7,800.00 per month and is non-negotiable. 
  • This is a remote position. 

The Department of Administration, Rehabilitation and Postsecondary Education (ARPE) includes three academic degrees: Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Postsecondary Education Leadership, the Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling and the Doctorate in Education with a concentration in Community College/Postsecondary Education Leadership.

Interwork Institute administers approximately 50 federal grants, state contracts, and other contracts from a wide range of resources. These grants and contracts cover a diverse range of topics, i.e., master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, certificate in rehabilitation administration, capacity building, assistive technology, transition and supported employment, technical assistance and continuing education, statewide needs assessment, workforce education, postsecondary educational leadership, and community college teaching. The Interwork Institute includes six centers. There is a combination of funding through grants and contracts with the Foundation and the University.

The ARPE/lnterwork Institute faculty and staff serve a large geographic area as well as diverse ethnic populations. This includes California, Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii, American Samoa, Guam, CNMI, Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, other US states and selected international partnerships. There are more than 60 employees that staff and administer the grants and contracts under the ARPE/Interwork Institute.

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Under general direction of the Director for the Center for Distance Learning (CDL) for the Interwork Institute, the person in this 50% position will work remotely and is responsible to support II-CDL’s distance learning programs and training projects.

Responsibilities:
CMS Support and Development Duties (95%)
  • Work with II-CDL Team in development and preparation of online training delivery,
  • Maintain correspondence tracking on various website user support activities,
  • Performing CMS configuration, theme development, plugin/module integration into Durpal, troubleshooting issues related to the CMS, thems, or plugins
  • Assist II-CDL team by coordinating the course and online training module production schedule,
  • Assist II-CDL Director for various report preparation for the projects II-CDL provides technology assistance,
  • Checking and ensuring the accessibility (Section 508 and WCAG) of training materials and web pages,
  • Create web contents based on the design specification using HTML, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript,
  • Assist II-CDL Systems Admin to maintain CMS driven sites,
  • Stay up to date on emerging and standard technologies,
  • Perform other assisting tasks as assigned,
  • Assist II-CDL’s technology-related tasks

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities 5%

Qualifications:
  • Knowledge and hands-on, up-to-date skills of Drupal, HTML5, CSS 3, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of website accessibility and assistive technology
  • Ability to code with HTML and CSS from scratch
  • Ability to read, understand, and modify the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript coding done by others
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe Acrobat DC
  • Knowledge of Section 508 and WCAG Web Accessibility standard
  • Knowledge and experience on Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, Google Drive, and other commonly used business applications
  • Ability to navigate and understand technical documentation
  • Ability to troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing projects
  • Knowledge of higher education environment
  • Ability to provide instructions and examples of training and/or courses
  • Ability to provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to be self-motivated , work independently, as well as in a team environment, with a professional attitude
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and be extremely professional, poised and polished
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic, work independently with desire to learn and improve and ability to manage time and complete assigned projects

Required Experience/Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, educational technology, communications or related fields or similar certified coursework in applicable fields of study.
  • HTML and CSS programming experience
  • CMS/LMS experience as edtitor - Drupal, Moodle, D2L, YesLMS

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • 1-2 years of experience or training in project or program administration
  • Marketing experience
  • Work experience in a non-profit and/or academic environment
  • Experience working with website accessibility and assistive technology
