The Cable Technician I is a
dedicated professional responsible for supporting the installation,
maintenance, and repair of telecommunications and network cabling
infrastructure within a Department of Defense (DoD) environment. This position
requires a Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline or an equivalent
combination of education, technical training, and work experience. The
candidate should have a minimum of 3 years of related telecommunications
experience, be familiar with BICSI standards, and hold certifications for Fiber
Optic and CAT6 Cable Installation. An active Secret Clearance is also required
for this role.
This position is contingent
upon contract award.
Essential Duties
and Responsibilities:
· Analyze,
administer, and maintain telecommunications and network cabling infrastructure
in accordance with DoD requirements.
· Utilize network
cabling test equipment, including network testers, copper cable testers, OTDRs,
and fiber power meters, to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the
cabling systems.
· Assist in the
dressing, termination, and testing of cables and components, adhering to
industry standards and best practices.
· Support the
troubleshooting and resolution of issues related to telecommunications and
network cabling infrastructure.
· Collaborate with
senior technicians and follow detailed instructions for cabling tasks and
projects.
· Maintain accurate
records of cabling infrastructure, testing results, and maintenance activities.
Requirements
Education and/or
Experience:
· Bachelor’s Degree
in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education,
technical training, or work experience.
· 3+ years of
related telecommunications experience.
· 3+ years of
experience working as a Cable Technician within the DoD environment.
Certifications,
Licenses, Registrations:
· Must possess
related certifications for Fiber Optic Cable and CAT6 Cable Installation.
Security
Clearance:
· Must maintain an
active Secret Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills,

· Familiarity with

· Proficiency in

Work Environment:
This position will be
primarily on-site at the Pentagon Reservation, where the Cable Technician I
will work within secure facilities and must comply with all security protocols.
The role may involve working in confined spaces, climbing ladders, and lifting
heavy objects. While the opportunity to work from home may be available, it is
not guaranteed and will depend on the specific requirements of the role and
managerial discretion.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands for this
role include the ability to move and handle tools and materials, climb ladders,
and work in various installation environments. The technician must be able to
see and differentiate colors for cable identification, operate testing
equipment, and perform physical tasks associated with cable installation and
maintenance.
