A Brief Summary of This Position:  

Join Valmont Utility, a segment of Valmont Industries, Inc., as a Sales Manager for our innovative solar technology solutions. This individual contributor role is pivotal in leading and managing the sales of the Convert TRJ Solar Tracker within a specific sales area/segment. We are embarking on an exciting new venture, and we're seeking a dynamic sales professional with a proven track record of driving business development, closing deals, and exceeding revenue goals. Essential Functions: 

  • Develop and nurture business relationships with potential and existing customers to expand sales coverage and achieve revenue goals. 

  • Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of the company’s sales plan. 

  • Maintain close communication with key accounts to understand their needs and identify new business opportunities. 

  • Analyze customer data, develop reports, and stay informed about market trends and requirements. 

  • Establish and manage multi-tiered relationships across customers and internal teams. 

  • Consistently meet or exceed assigned revenue targets. 

  • Stay updated on market information, competitors, and customer benchmarks. 

  • Provide Voice of the Customer feedback to drive continuous improvement efforts. 

  • Support the launch activities of new products and services. 

  • Attend sales meetings, conferences, and trade shows. 

  • Ability to travel up to 50%, primarily domestically, including overnight stays. 

  • Responsible for customer communications, targeted new client development, and serving as the main point of contact for key customers. 

  • Focus on forecasting, price management, quote process management, and competitive analysis. 

  • Lead proposal process and contract negotiations, driving account strategy based on account position. 

  • Identify and engage target customers across all product families. 

  • Evaluate training needs and coordinate with internal resources for skill development. 

  • Complete pre-bid profiles for all opportunities. 

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate: 

  • Preferred Bachelors with 6+ years relevant experience or Associates Degree with 8+ years relevant experience or 10+ years of relevant experience 

  • Proven ability to develop and execute account strategies, and handle customer negotiations 

  • Experience with value-added selling technique

Highly Qualified Candidates Will Also Possess These Qualifications: 

  • Ten years of experience in sales management, preferably in technical sales within sectors such as renewables, construction, industrial, or manufacturing.

  • Experience in the solar industry, including solar tracker experience and a deep understanding of solar utility system development, procurement, delivery, and construction, particularly with commercial/industrial customers. 

The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in Colorado and Nebraska is $98,400 - $179,800. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Valmont Industries considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, and market and business considerations when extending an offer.
