New York State Coordinator

SADD works to empower, engage, mobilize, and change students and adult allies on the issues of mobility safety, substance use, mental health, and leadership development. We're trying to change the world through a peer-to-peer model of school and community-based chapters.

SADD has a network of dedicated professionals who serve in a variety of positions across the country, with SADD chapters spanning across all 50 states and Internationally. This team member will be our representative leader in New York.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Teamwork: SADD requires highly organized, team-oriented, creative leaders who enjoy working with their peers. The State Coordinator should have an interest in education, prevention, youth advocacy, substance abuse, program development, or another relevant field and be prepared to collaborate across the organization.

  • Professionalism: This position works under the direction of the Director of Field Engagement to identify and schedule educational presentations, and outreach events, and engage SADD chapters. This State Coordinator must exhibit exceptional decision-making skills and work closely with the Director of Field Engagement to determine capacity for in-person opportunities. Appropriate attire, behavior, & "Yes, and" attitude are expected when representing the organization.

  • Initiative: Developing or re-engaging SADD chapters is critical to this position. This could include but is not limited to: identifying a staff advisor, liaising with admin to advocate for SADD on campus, assisting students in developing chapter bylaws, developing a set of first meeting agendas, brainstorming events and ideas with chapters, onboarding new advisors, etc.

  • Flexibility: This will be a boots-on-the-ground role and thereby will require keen attention to detail and a malleable approach to a schedule. The Coordinator is expected to engage with SADD chapters both in-person and remotely with a watchful eye on travel budget categories. This includes presenting to clubs and organizations and facilitating program activities. Accurate time records of activities will be critical to this role and will require the Coordinator to be adaptable to hourly restrictions.

  • Research: Investigating and engaging new chapters, schools, partners, community organizations and the like will be of paramount importance to this position. The Coordinator is expected to uncover new and previously uncharted areas where SADD can be implemented and employed based on strategic research laid out by each state's grant goals.

  • Evaluation: Our work relies on accurate data collection & management. You will oversee the achievement of set goals, recording participant data, completing necessary reports, and ensuring that SADD chapters and partners remain engaged. Distributing pre- and post-surveys to event attendees for program evaluation may be required, and if implemented, will be critical to the success of this program.

Other duties as needed & assigned.
