Job Summary
The UK Weekend Audience Editor helps run a variety of platforms and manages social media and search priorities 5 days a week – including Saturdays and Sundays. They sit in the newsroom and work closely with edit, video, PR, and other stakeholders to help distribute content and help serve our different audiences.
II. Essential Job Functions
Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results
Run social accounts including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; Communicate with editorial team and newsroom to help prioritize daily content; Provide guidance on trending items across social, search, and other sources. Deploy Newsletters and Apple Alerts.
Brainstorm, workshop, and execute different social content ideas and activations — video series, campaigns, memes, etc.
Collaborate with editorial teams to execute social activations around awards shows, tentpole events, and breaking news; Help with data pulls and analyze key metrics; Deploy news alerts and newsletters; execute sales asks
Attend events for live social coverage, Instagram Stories, and more; Organize social takeovers and partnerships

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience:
2-3 years of related experience working in a fast-paced, creative environment or media brand
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Availability to work 4:30am-12:30pm EST 5 days a week, including Saturday and Sunday
- Savvy with social media — an avid user and observer of industry trends
- Strong news judgement
- Familiarity with the PEOPLE brand, particularly on social
- Understanding of SEO basic principles
- Experience with social analytics and reporting
- Impeccable writing skills and attention to detail
- Availability to work during special events, broadcasts, awards shows
