Position Overview**

Provides support to HR, Payroll Department, processes, and employees. Processes payroll in Workday and ensures payroll is processed accurately and by established deadlines. Point of contact for employees with payroll inquiries, related to federal and state withholdings, payroll deductions, promotions, direct deposit, and other pay issues. The Payroll Specialist should be able to handle confidential information in a professional manner. **

Essential Job Functions**

  • Process multiple payrolls in multiple states on a bi-weekly basis within the Workday payroll system
  • Review payroll registers, pre-posting checklists, and complete audits of each payroll
  • Process and respond to garnishments with Workday
  • Work with the Benefits team regarding 401(k) Plan level reporting, benefit deductions, and LOA payroll requests.
  • Process out-of-cycle checks and terminations in accordance with state payroll requirements
  • Review and approve employee updates in Workday
  • Audit and submit 401(k) payroll contributions report after each pay cycle
  • Process BLS Audits, unemployment insurance wage audits and state tax notices, track and process all severance agreements
  • Work closely with Finance for payroll funding, benefit costs, etc.
  • Audit states to ensure appropriate withholding
  • Make sure new hire tax statuses and any W-4 allowance changes are correctly processed
  • Work on prior week adjustments for hours submitted late or not approved on time, overpayments, underpayments, and retro transactions
  • Execute payroll adjustments for pay rate changes, leaves of absence, PTO, and unpaid leave
  • Assist employees with payroll and HR-related questions or concerns
  • Assist with system conversions
  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned
  • Other activities may be assigned by your manager

Qualifications/ Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • CPP certification preferred
  • Workday payroll experience is strongly preferred
  • Intermediate-level support staff with 3-5 years of payroll processing experience.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented team environment
  • Knowledge of Federal and multi-state/local tax filing and reconciliation
  • Must be highly accurate, organized and detail-oriented
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of employees and the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and be organized
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Strong Excel skills.
  • Payroll and legal compliance

Special Requirements

  • The employee may be required to report to a different local office as a normal, contemplated, and mandated incident of their employment

The annual full time base salary range for this role is ($46,800 - $65,000). Specific compensation is determined through interviews and a review of relevant education, experience, training, skills, geographic location and alignment with market data. Additionally, certain positions may be eligible to receive a discretionary bonus as determined by bonus program guidelines, position eligibility and SitusAMC Senior Management approval. SitusAMC offers PTO and paid holidays, the terms of which are set forth in the program policies. All full time employees also are eligible to participate in various benefit plans, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance and 401K; in each case in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
