Job description

Project and Data Governance Director

In compliance with company policies and procedures, the Project and Data Governance Director is responsible for project management and data governance for the Data & Business Analytics function. In addition, the Project and Data Governance Director will be the point person/role for the Business Analytics and Pricing team for enterprise projects and data responsibilities, when projects cross departmental and/or Apollo organizational boundaries. The Director will be the custodian and steward of data dictionaries for company data elements and fields. The Director will also promote best practices based on his/her experience and will lead by example in projects/initiatives/tasks . The successful candidate will liaise between Business and technical teams. The Director will be responsible to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications, therefore working alongside the teams as a business analyst. **

Essential Functions**

  • Supports Data & Business Analytics team, Executive Leadership and Program Management to manage and keep track of day-to-day priorities by using and maintaining the Jira project management application for business user initiatives and requests
  • Serves as a liaison and schedules meetings between business, functional, technology areas and the Data & Business Analytics team to ensure that data related business requirements are clearly defined, communicated, and well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning.
  • Define and manage project scope, goals, deliverables (Project Charter, Schedule, Resource allocations) that support project objectives
  • Support Data and Business Analytics development team during planning, design, development and production phases with clear and concise design for functional and technical specifications
  • Provide support documentation for non-functional/functional/technical requirements
  • Identify business coordinators/users for business validation
  • Support business users/testers as needed to plan and complete tests
  • Validate requirements by writing acceptance criteria, test cases, and execute or assist in testing activities of reports and data developed for business users by the Data and Business Analytics team
  • Maintains CRID (Change Requests, Risks, Issues, Decisions) Log
  • Manage project communication and reporting per communication plan
  • Establishes and manages a data governance implementation roadmap including priorities for development of information-based capabilities
  • Facilitates the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements
  • Participate in establishing practices, templates, policies, tools, and partnerships to expand the data and reporting capabilities of the Data & Business Analytics team

Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Project and/or Information Management, Business or related technical discipline required
  • 5+ years of technical related experience with formal Business Analyst or Project Management training and large-scale data experience required
  • Similar combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Experience working on Agile projects and using Jira is required
  • Understanding of data management best practices is a must.
  • Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM) certification preferred, but not required.
  • Highly motivated individual with strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, problem solving, and interpersonal skills is required
  • Minimal supervision needed
  • Must be willing to learn the business of Aqua Finance and to apply knowledge gained to business user requests
  • General knowledge of business operations, objectives, and strategies as well as business process and information flow
  • General knowledge of diverse technologies and new and current data architectures as well as ability to understand and write in SQL
  • Skills in object, data and/or process modeling, financial analysis and planning, and business process design
  • Must have the ability to analyze problems, troubleshoot, and make decisions in the best interest of the company to minimize downtime
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts.
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing training and/or certifications necessary to stay current in job role
  • Occasional travel required for training and/or project work with external stakeholders and project team members
  • Periodic after core hours, night and weekend work is required in relation with system testing, upgrade, and implementation activity
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions of customer requirements. Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Requires the ability to operate various office equipment to include a computer, phone, voicemail, copier, and fax. Requires the ability to operate various software such as word processing, excel, spreadsheets and internal databases.
  • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail and accuracy required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Financial service industry experience, specifically consumer lending is preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, visualize, talk, hear, and handle or touch objects or controls. The employee may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.

This position is an office-based position where you must be able to sit for long periods of time. The employee will be working on a computer 90% of the time.
