Position Summary
The Division of Child Psychiatry at Washington University is seeking to hire two part-time Staff Therapists for its Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program (AIOP). The position will involve a combination of direct clinical interventions and group care to adolescents and/or their caregivers and the therapists will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to implement novel models of care delivery and measure outcomes.
Following a Dialectical Behavioral Therapy model of treatment, this position includes planning, organizing, and implementation of both individual and group therapy services and supportive care for adolescents and their caregivers participating in an intensive outpatient program. This position is primarily in person with some work from home flexibility. Job Description
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitates multiple weekly skills groups for adolescents presenting with emotion dysregulation, suicidal ideation, non-suicidal self-injury, depression, anxiety, and other mental health disorders, and/or their caregivers.
- Provides individual psychotherapy services and/or brief interventions for adolescents and/or their caregivers in the program.
- Provides weekly skills calls to adolescents/caregivers in the program.
- Maintains necessary charting in both medical and internal records systems and prepares psychosocial reports.
- Facilitates referrals and community resources for patients/families.
- Tracks programmatic data and prepares outcome reports.
- Participates in weekly collaborative case conferences, treatment planning, team meetings and supervision with multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated psychotherapist with at least two years’ experience working with and providing trauma centered psychotherapy to adolescents with mental health symptoms, particularly emotion dysregulation, suicidal and non-suicidal ideation or self-injury, depression, anxiety, or other mental health and trauma disorders, and their families.
- Experience running groups and an extensive knowledge of group dynamics is desired.
- Training and experience utilizing DBT skills.
- A firm grounding in trauma informed care is highly preferred.
- Education on developmental ages and stages and effective parenting skills is highly preferred.
- Experience working with families from diverse backgrounds and varied lived experiences is desirable.
- Interactive communication skills with the ability to work successfully both in a multidisciplinary team setting and with patients and families.
- Comfort providing services both on-site in a clinical setting as well as virtually via telehealth.
- Familiar and comfortable with PC based computer system skills.
- Training in trauma focused models of therapy such as DBT, TF-CBT, or EMDR.
- Knowledge of the DSM V.
- Experience charting in patient records in a timely manner.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Highly empathetic with an attention to strong clinical and work boundaries and self-care practices.
Required Qualifications
- Equivalent of a master’s degree in social work.
- AAMFT, ASLPC, LCSW, LPC, CPC, LMFT or licensed Psychologist in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location.
- Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Salary Range
$26.46 - $41.03 / Hourly
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
