Job description

Who we are - our mission:

terralayr addresses the massive deficit in global energy storage.

The over-indexing in the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources leads to a large volatility on the energy grid. The main problem is that wind and solar farms are fluctuating and by definition unsteady - there is no sun at night and it is not always windy. This increases the need for flexibility in the form of battery storage systems to balance the grid in times when supply and demand do not match.
By buying and developing grid scale storage assets, as well as virtually aggregating them across a layer, we are creating the world's first energy cloud. Imagine AWS for energy. Through the flexibility we secure, we can market flexibility-as-a-service and hedging products/power insurance to utilities, SMEs/Industrial players as well as create virtual storage capacity for PV & wind farms.

We are looking for a Strategy Intern (all genders) to join our team as soon as possible for a period of at least 3 months. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in business development, operations and strategy within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What you will be working on:
  • Collaborate with the team on asset development processes, such as preparing contract negotiations with external developers

  • Prepare commercial material such as sales decks and market analyses, and take part in commercial negotiations

  • Support the team in fundraising efforts, preparing e.g. proposals, presentations, investor documents and data rooms

  • Evaluate strategic options through in depth quantitative financial analysis of different opportunities available

  • Provide administrative support to the business development team as needed

Who we are looking for:
  • You are currently pursuing or already have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, or any comparable subject from a top tier university or business school and are  looking for a 3 to 6 months internship

  • You have first work experience in demanding, fast-paced environments (e.g., consulting, investment banking, startups, etc.)

  • You are a team player, have a hands-on mentality and organisational skills

  • You are proactive and have a self-starter mindset with excellent organisational, interpersonal and analytical skills

  • You thrive in ambiguity and don’t crack under the pressure of a demanding environment

  • Any previous experience in energy markets or in the development and operation of renewable energy assets are a plus

What you will benefit from:
  • Working for a company with a clear mission: A world powered by 100% renewable energy

  • Get first-hand experience by working closely with experienced entrepreneurs and senior team members who support your development through mentoring

  • A steep learning curve combined with a lot of space to bring in your own ideas and shape terralayr’s future

  • A strong team culture and lively interactions with the team (remote and in Berlin)

Please note:

At terralayr, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone's unique talents and perspectives are respected. We firmly believe that our strength lies in the rich tapestry of backgrounds, experiences, and ideas that our team members bring to the table. As an equal opportunities employer, we value and embrace differences and are dedicated to providing a fair and supportive environment for all.

We encourage candidates from all walks of life, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or any other characteristic, to apply and join our team. We firmly believe that diversity drives innovation, creativity, and success, making us stronger as a collective.
