About the role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Global Wage Accounting & Payroll Manager to manage our payroll functions and subsequent accounting treatment on a worldwide basis. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees across various countries, managing compliance with each country's regulations and tax laws and recording employee related costs to the regional general ledgers. This role demands a high level of analytical skills, precision, expertise in U.S. and international payroll practices, familiarity with payroll systems and the ability to correlate pay to financial statement results.  Role will require video conferences to be conducted with other regions outside of the US thus if located in U.S., work hours may be unique and are flexible.  This position reports to the VP of Accounting and Finance. 

Essential functions: 

  • Manage global payroll operations across 14 countries, ensuring compliance with local tax and employment laws. 
  • Maintain our internal payroll processing system to process U.S. payroll, and our external third-party global payroll provider to process 13 other countries. manageing data collection, calculation, and the distribution of payroll checks, direct deposits, and electronic payments.  
  • Coordinate with finance and people & culture departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data (including preparation/distribution of detailed reports, earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages). 
  • Manage and resolve complex payroll issues and provide guidance on payroll best practices. 
  • Oversee the mapping of payroll accounting entries, ensuring accurate reflection in financial statements. 
  • Prepare and/or review the financial recording of payroll and other employee related costs (health insurance, employee development, etc.), prepare reports for management, including but not limited to month over month variance analytics, , forecasts, and other relevant financial data. 
  • Review processes in payroll or accounting to identify trends, resolve issues, and improve operations. 
  • Authorize cash transactions related to payroll, ensuring adherence to budget and financial policies. 
  • Conduct meetings with key stakeholders to review related processes, address challenges, and implement improvements. 
  • Exercise autonomy in decision-making, demonstrating an analytical approach to solving complex issues. 
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax and deduction laws in each country of operation and adjust payroll policies and procedures accordingly. 

Skills and requirements: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 3 years of experience with global payroll management.
  • At least 3 years in Accounting with an emphasis on payroll accounting and financial reporting.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, payroll softwares and intermediate sized ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership and autonomy, with the ability to conduct effective meetings and presentations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with fluency in English.  
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
