We've championed the ambitious yet rewarding challenge of writing 50,000 words of a novel in just thirty days each November. What began as a bold endeavor has blossomed into a global movement, inspiring hundreds of thousands to embark on their novel-writing journeys annually. Our participants range from elementary school teachers to mechanics to stay-at-home parents, all united by the shared dream of leaving the month as novelists. **

Executive Summary**

You'll play a pivotal role within our leadership team, spearheading strategic and tactical efforts essential to fulfilling our mission. We seek a candidate with a proven track record in nonprofit program management, a knack for community engagement, and a keen sense of maturity and judgment.

You'll be responsible for executing and enhancing the diverse programs we've developed to serve our mission, including:

Our flagship 50,000-word November novel writing challenge

Camp NaNoWriMo retreats held in April and July

The Young Writers Program

Participation in the PEN Prison and Justice Program

School services initiatives such as providing free supplies for young writers

Access to year-round, self-service resources available online

Development of web app features and functionalities supporting resource accessibility

The Programs team's work directly impacts our community, necessitating experience in:

Nurturing online communities and digital social spaces

Crafting virtual programming and managing self-service resources

Catering to both adult and youth populations, especially underserved groups

High-level planning or requirement-setting (a plus)

Collaboration with schools and educators (a plus) **

Core Roles And Responsibilities**

Ensure the high quality and alignment of our program offerings with the organization's mission

Uphold protocols for community engagement, sensitivity, diversity, equity, inclusion, and values-alignment

Analyze and manage KPIs related to program participation, engagement, and community sentiment

Utilize data insights to inform program strategy and enhancement

Job Specifics: Supervision:

Receive support and supervision from the Executive Director

Support and directly supervise the Director of Community Engagement

Lead volunteerism initiatives related to programs

Supervise programs-related contract workers

Job Specifics: Leadership Expectations:

Demonstrate a service-oriented mindset, prioritizing our mission and community

Contribute enthusiastically to organizational strategy

Actively engage in leadership and programs meetings

Job Specifics: Key Internal Partnerships:

Collaborate with the Executive Director to drive program enhancements and communicate key developments

Work closely with the Technology team to propose technical functionalities supporting programs

Partner with the Director of Community Engagement to assess program effectiveness and community sentiment

Provide community engagement statistics to support grant applications and compile information for the Annual Report

Job Specifics: Key External Partnerships:

Serve as the primary liaison for program volunteers

Coordinate with educators for the Young Writers Program

Liaise with program coordinators in beneficiary organizations

Job Specifics: Technical Skills:

Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, PowerPoint, Wordpress, and Zoom **
