Destructoid: Freelance Gaming Writer at GAMURS Group

Destructoid is a place for passionate gamers to find engaging articles & information about their favorite franchises written by other passionate gamers. Currently, we're looking for freelance writers to join our fully remote and international newsroom.

Working with Destructoid means having the opportunity to write about a variety of video game topics, while creating game guides and SEO-focused articles that are based on your own gameplay. We encourage writers to use their own voice when writing and to continue developing their knowledge, opinions, and skills as they grow with our team.

Responsibilities:

• Follow trending topics and stay up-to-date on all things gaming
• Pitch new article topics

Requirements:

• At least 1-2 years of prior game writing experience (with Trello and WordPress training)
• Deep knowledge of video games and their related communities
• Excitement, dedication, and an ability to pivot when needed

While applying to this position, please provide us with a resume, 1-3 relevant writing samples (an application without a writing sample will not be considered), and a cover letter that explains your expertise in video games as well as which of the following games/topics you're most knowledgeable about.

Knowledge we need:

• MMOs
• Call of Duty
• General gaming knowledge (someone who plays a large variety of genres)
• Live service games
• Mobile games
• General entertainment (TV/Movies)

Rates: $16 to $90 per piece, depending on content type and length. Salary range may differ for international candidates, based on location.
