Job description

This position requires an understanding of the dually registered Broker Dealer (BD) and corporate Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) technology landscape, regulatory alignment of technology with operations and security, working with HTK leadership to understand direction, implications, evolution and operational requirements of HTK technology services.The Penn Mutual Information Management & Technology (IM&T) is in search of a seasoned and demonstrated leader, to oversee our BD & RIA applications team and engagement with our HTK leadership to deliver on current operational needs and upcoming corporate priorities. This role involves leading teams dedicated to crafting software that enhances business value and is primarily focused on the broker dealer domain. Exceptional communication skills are imperative for success, along with a keen focus on delivering impactful business value through technology. This role is centered around developing a trusted relationship with the business, mentoring staff, and collaborating with product owners to ensure the successful delivery of functionality aligned with corporate priorities. This role will participate with the broader IM&T organization to create, evolve and operate the broker dealer technology services.We’ve embraced a flexible, hybrid approach to work. This model allows you to balance your life and bring your whole self to work.Responsibilities• Provide technical input on various technologies and address the impacts of those decisions across the enterprise.• Understand the vision of how technology services and systems will be implemented and maintained, and ensure the integrity of the vision throughout the lifecycle.• Develop and review task estimates and assumptions during sprint planning and at key project milestones. Validate the development approach and assumptions that underlie the delivery plans.• Participate in design, code, and QA walkthroughs and reviews.• Stay abreast of the technology industry to make sure solutions developed are following internal and industry “best practices” and will meet the needs of the business going forward.• Communicate at the appropriate level within and outside of IT the technical direction and proposed solutions for various projects and initiatives.• Provide feedback on requirements for understandability, completeness, and feasibility.• Lead or participate in enterprise vendor, technology, and tool selection, perform platform and product evaluations and selection, buy-or-build decisions and associated budget management.• Architect and oversee development of integrations between 3rd party applications and internally developed systems (cloud based).• Understand IT challenges and current state to assist formulating suitable IT strategy aligned with corporate objectives.• Facilitate complex design and technical discussions, reconciling differing opinions and driving the decision making process.• Perform in a solution architect capacity for broker-dealer initiatives.• Complies with all company policies and procedures• Remains current in profession and industry trends• Successfully completes regulatory and job training requirements

Required Skills• Strong understanding of IT trends, emerging technologies, and their business implications.• Proficiency in project management methodologies.• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and regulatory environment.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.• Enjoys a variety of challenging projects in a fast-paced environment, is efficient and always delivery focused.• Possess strong technology analysis, research and documentation skills and the ability to translate technology analysis and research into workable solutions or solution components as required.• Strong judgment, decision making, and planning skills working in a proactive manner, and a desire to continuously learn new skills.• Passion and demonstrated ability for continuous process improvement.• Proven ability to meet deadlines.• Must be able to work independently and prioritize work effectively as well as working with others in a collaborative team environment.• Strong business perspective and the ability to relate technology concepts to business direction.• Operate across the IM&T organization and broker-dealer organization domains such as security, infrastructure, data architectures and development.• Leadership skills to indirectly drive cross-functional teams towards common solutions.• Working knowledge of cloud service delivery models, in particular SaaS and PaaS

Required Experience• Proven track record, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership or managerial role, within the IT domain overseeing complex IT projects from conception to completion.o Managing and developing high-performing software development teams.o Developing and implementing IT strategies aligned with business goals.o Working in an agile software development environment.o Experience supporting Broker Dealer and/or RIA technology landscape and or applications.o Maintaining strong relationships with third party vendors• Relevant experience managing relationships with external partners, vendors, and service providers.Penn Mutual helps people become stronger.
