Job Description Summary

The Access Control Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of all access control technicians engaged in all aspects of Access Control. Analyzes work orders and projects to determine need for supplies and sequence of operation. **

Essential Functions And Responsibilities**

  • Reports to work at the required time and performs duties as assigned by the AVP Security/Public Safety.
  • Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and directing the work of subordinate employees.
  • Knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, procedures and tools used in the Access Control trade.
  • Analyzes plans, drawings, work samples, specifications work orders and projects to determine work requirements, sequence of access control assignments, and personnel needs. Works closely with customers in the design and completion of work orders or projects.
  • Ensures adequate Access Control supplies are ordered and available for the completion of jobs/ projects.
  • Requisitions supplies, such as doors, electronic badge readers and fixtures.
  • Knowledge of ordering job materials and accounting for job labor and material costs.
  • Trains, instructs, and assists access control technicians and other personnel.
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks and a wide variety of access control jobs related to preventative maintenance, installation and repairs.
  • Operates power equipment and uses grinders, cutting torches, drills, electric hammers, power saws, drill presses, grinders, and positioners.
  • Performs pre- preparation checks to make sure all access control tools and materials are available to complete projects.
  • Ensures adequate access control supplies are ordered and tools are available to avoid delays for the completion of work.
  • Ensures all Access Control Technicians have knowledge of all safety procedures and essential safety products are provided to them; as well as making sure all safety procedures are followed and enforced at all times.
  • Relies on knowledge and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
  • Oversees, with the receiving and completing of work orders while maintaining records of completed work and work to be completed. As well as, keeping track of inventory and replenishing stock.
  • Responds to all emergency needs as they arise.
  • Inspects proposed job site; employs proper fire protection devices and observes safety rules.
  • Measures dimensions of repairs and determines required material quantity for individual repair jobs accurately.
  • Relies on experience and judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Must be able to work on weekends, holidays, and flexible daily hours as well as various evening hours when needed.
  • Promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
  • Identifies and communicates problems or defects to resolve issues.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Remains abreast of existing and emerging technologies, processes, products, services and leading industry performance benchmarks.
  • Works effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Credentials, And Competencies

High school diploma or GED. Minimum of 5+ years of related experience required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to understand and follow instructions. Must be able to work well with the public and co-workers and present a positive attitude. Clean and professional appearance. Must be courteous, detailed oriented, self-motivated, diligent, trustworthy, possess strong organizational skills and well-developed communication skills. Desire to work with a team to accomplish goals. Urgency to grow and improve. This position might require the use and operation of aerial lifts. Willing and able to obtain aerial lift certifications, operate, and work from various aerial lifts and heights. CDL Preferred and reputable driving record. Certifications obtained while employed by Liberty University at the expense of the employer will be reimbursed back to the University upon voluntary termination (resignation) for the first 12 months after acquiring it.

Effective communication both verbally and in writing. Ability to intuitively reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment in order to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature. Excellent computer and organizational skills. Regularly lift 50+ pounds. Proof of a valid Virginia driver’s license, an acceptable DMV record, and liability insurance is required.
