Job Description

Experience working with plastic (injection molding) is a must , automotive components, interior trim commodities preferred. **

Design Experience on the Commodity (IP, Console, Hard Trim or Door Trim).**

Knowledge on material properties and injection molding tooling considerations.

Understand and apply GPDS (Global Product Development System) process.

Comply with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality History, P – Diagram, DFMEA, etc)

Knowledge and application of six sigma and 8D.

Design verification knowledge (testing) - preferred. **

Launch Experience Preferred.**

Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

Must be able to lead and manage suppliers.

3D CAD knowledge Teamcenter.

3D CAD CATIA preferred ( create concepts, sections, part manipulation)

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Microsoft Project). **

Responsibilities**

The Interior Trim D&R is responsible to design, develop, validate and release Interior Trim parts under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs.

The potential components include but are not limited to interior trim components such as hard trim door trim, soft trim and overhead systems.

Responsible to look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization.

Responsible to design parts in order to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements.

Develop ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work) and participate in the Sourcing Process (SA, ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and CPA).

Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting

Responsible of parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant (program Launch)

Intermittent Travel to North America & Ford of Mexico plants. **

Qualifications**

Education: B.S. in or similar to Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering or similar Degree

English proficiency; fluid speaker with ability to negotiate and lead small cross functional groups.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.
  • Leadership and negotiation skills to deliver cost reduction targets.
  • Experience with cross-functional negotiations with Program Management, Studio, Craftsmanship, etc.
  • Team building skills, problem-solving expertise, and willingness to contribute to team efforts.
  • Play to win mindset and focus on process improvement.
  • Experience on Manufacturing, Production, Design and Quality processes on Automotive industry.
  • Ford internal systems: FEDE, FEDE BoM, WERS.
  • 5+ years of experience on Design and Release, parts sign-off and build events for interior components.
