DoD SkillBridge: Emergency Management
Location: Corona, CA
This internship requires a four (4) month minimum time in the internship.

people and programs to prepare for natural, accidental or civil threats to our

next SkillBridge Intern! This opportunity is less than 40 minutes away from the
coastline of Southern California!
Our
Host Partner, Corona Fire Department (State of California), is seeking an
Emergency Management DoD SkillBridge Intern who is interested in living /
working in the Corona, CA Region and trained in FEMA operations OR has a
serious interest in Emergency Management. Emergency Management is a fast-growing
and a largely diversified career path.
Interested candidates should be willing to train at location in CA during the
internship and must be willing to relocate / live and work in sunny Southern
California if there is a job offer post-internship - OR take your new skills back to your home state!. This is NOT a remote opportunity.

Overview
In this Internship you will be able to apply your Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) in Emergency Management while continuing to learn
more skills and acquiring a greater expertise in this field. You will experience On-the-Job training on how
Emergency Management works within the State of California.
In this
position you will learn:
How to administer, supervise, coordinate or assist with
City-Wide Emergency Management programs, projects, and services
- How to ensure
program compliance with pertinent federal, state, local, and city-driven
priorities, mandates, objectives, laws, guidelines, and regulations
- How to
perform a variety of technical, administrative, and programmatic work in
support of assigned programs.
- How to be responsible for developing and carrying the City’s
comprehensive disaster and emergency preparedness (with administrative guidance
and direction from the Fire Chief.)
- How to manage emergency services planning and development,
resources identification, interagency response coordination, and public
education.
**Interested candidates will receive a full
description of all duties, responsibilities, and more. Candidates may be placed
in “Assistant” or “Manager” tracks after review of skills and experience.
OJT and Formal Training may include:
- FEMA Emergency Management Institute – Emergency Management
Professional Program - local and potential travel to (Emmitsburg, MD)
- California Specialized Training Institute – Emergency Management
Credentialing & Certificate Program
- Riverside County Operational Area Emergency Management Training
– Planning, Response, Recovery, Mitigation
Vets2PM Provides:
- Mentorship and guidance via regular SkillBridge Intern Zoom Meetings.
- PM Fundamentals course, Resume writing, LinkedIn optimization, and interview skills course.
- Other free resources, including an electronic copy of 'How to Speak Civilian Fluently'.
Other:
Not all internships include certification training by Vets2PM, as many host companies include their own internship-focused training instead.
