Job description

We’re recruiting for a Signage & Wayfinding Design Managers job with an established Architectural Sign company. In this Signage Design Managers job you’ll lead and mentor a team of graphic designers, manage studio workflow, input technical support and contribute to sign design projects. This Sign Design Manager jobs ideal person will be able to work from the studio in Northampton. However, a mix of studio and remote working is also available.

Working on prestigious UK and International signage and wayfinding projects, our client provides the design and delivery of high quality, bespoke, architectural signage, wayfinding and environmental graphic solutions for their clients interior and exterior branded spaces.

About this Signage & Wayfinding Design Managers job

In this signage and wayfinding design managers job you’ll be heading up the design studio. Managing a team of junior graphic designers and collaborating with cross functional internal teams, including sales and account managers, operations and projects. In addition you’ll also liaise with external supply chain partners.

Ultimately, in this signage design managers job you’ll lead and mentor the design team, manage design studio workflow, output, and advise on technical design, materials and specifications. You will also be required to provide hands on technical signage design.

Working on prestigious branding projects, covering a wide variety of clients including hotels, hospitality, workplace, high-end residential, education, health, corporate clients and leading brands, you’ll be managing the design and design strategy for  signage, wayfinding and environmental graphics.

  • Creation of visuals for client presentations
  • Artworking
  • 3D Visualisations
  • Technical signage design / production drawings
  • Taking conceptual designs to create practical product design solutions across the full mix of signage types
  • Maintaining brand consistency
  • Liaising with external supply chain partners on design and specifications
  • Collaborating with cross functional internal teams

To be considered for this signage and wayfinding design managers job, you’ll need experience of working in similar sign design jobs. Ideally you’ll have experience of managing a design team, but this is not essential. The ability to lead and mentor junior designers, and the technical signage design experience to be able to do so, is the most important skills you will need to be able to demonstrate.

So, to fulfil this signage design manager jobs responsibilities you will also need to be able to demonstrate, as a minimum:

  • Sound understanding of signage materials, specifications & construction
  • At least 5 years experience in a technical signage design job role
  • A portfolio showcasing your relevant signage & wayfinding design work
  • Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop etc)
  • The ability to create technical working drawings / production drawings
  • Ability to produce high quality design visuals
  • Effective time management and the capability to meet strict design deadlines
  • Capable of leading, mentoring & inspiring junior graphic designers
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple design projects, in a fast-paced environment
  • Delegate design studio workflow
  • Strong attention to detail
