Job description

We are searching for a skilled Indirect Tax Manager to join one of the largest hospitality companies in the country. This is a direct-hire opportunity, and 100% remote . Work Environment

  • Fully remote! MUST LIVE IN ONE OF THE FOLLOWING STATES: AK, AL, AZ, CA, CO, DE, FL, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MT, NC, NH, NJ, NM, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, or WY
  • Pacific hours to start, but with flexibility after onboarding/training. Most of the team works PST, so it would be nice to have somebody that can somewhat match that.
  • During peak deadline time (quarterly deadlines, monthly close), roughly 50 hours a week, with lots of flexibility on hours
  • 40 hours a week during non peak times

Description

  • Manage the full scope of company’s indirect taxes
  • Set team timelines to ensure tax deadlines are met consistently
  • Identify areas for efficiency improvements and implement strategy to improve tax processes and controls
  • Research tax concepts to apply to tax fillings and internal processes
  • Evaluate tax filings to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare hospitality tax account reconciliations for financial monthly and yearly close
  • Review tax team's work and mentor/coach tax accountants
  • Work with non-finance stakeholder to ensure tax procedures are followed and information gathered allows for tax compliance
  • Manage SOX controls as they relate to indirect taxes
  • Collaboratively set team goals and metrics
  • Work with misc. government agencies to maintain tax accounts and tax compliance

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax accounting experience within a large company environment (public accounting OR industry accounting)
  • 4+ years of indirect tax specific experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting/Finance
  • Advanced to expert Excel skills
  • Active CPA preferred, not required
  • Public accounting firm experience preferred, not required
  • Must be US-based, and able to work from home with reliable internet connection and flexible hours (PST preferred)
