The Occupational Health Nurse provides on-call support and back-up to the regular full time ARNP based in NYC.. The Occupational Health nurse gives appropriate medical care to employees as it relates to employee health maintenance, health promotion and administration of health related matters. This role maintains and promotes employee productivity and medical cost containment through on-site medical care and disease/injury intervention. The Occupational Health Nurse has an active role in physician support for individual employee’s health maintenance needs. This role assists with patient education, referrals and follow-up. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s Degree, Registered Nurse competent in practice through academic study, professional training and experience. Ongoing continuing education required for licensure. Emergent care preparation. Experience: Minimum three years professional experience as RN. Background in emergency room/intensive care experience especially helpful. Organizational skills acquired from experience with occupational or public health and recognition of the significance of how closely Wellness philosophy integrates with preventive health measures. Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: -Must possess a broad and varied working knowledge of family medicine, public health, communicable disease, medical standards and practice, and relating laws and regulations (HIPAA, etc.). -Requires practitioner to have a sound theoretical base, competent clinical and analytical skills to meet the demands of diverse roles and responsibilities. -Must be able to work independently/autonomously outside of a controlled medical environment. -Able to use knowledge and intuition concurrently while reacting to unusual or emergent medical situations. -Needs to have ability to negotiate with external providers to ensure Meredith’s guidelines are followed. -Keeps current with scientific updates and social issues relating to health topics. -Phlebotomy skills necessary. |
