This position is for an Engineering Design / CAD / PLM Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all Ford products.

  • The Technical Specialist position is needed within the Global Engineering Design and Bill-of-Materials (GED & BOM) organization to assist in the continuous improvement of our Ford+ technological expertise and strategy.
  • The expectation is to have a Subject Matter Expert (SME) that will define and reinforce processes to improve quality as well as improving the organizational team capabilities in line with the best in the industry.
  • The Technical Specialist will benchmark industry standards and deploy tools, methods, and processes to improve efficiency and provide high-quality data.
  • This person will help in the deployment of training to Engineering Designers and Bill-of-Materials (BOM) Analysts, elevating the collective knowledge of the organization.

Responsibilities

In this position...

  • Work as the Global lead for the development & deployment of Engineering Design processes, methods, communications, and deliverables for new technologies.
  • Manage global business applications and software infrastructure for CAD / PLM tools.
  • Serve as the gatekeeper for the development and deployment of global design efficiency tools, technology, methods, templates, and processes.

What You'll Do...

  • Driving the digital transformation to improve connectivity within the digital toolset.
  • Manage and support featuring projects within Engineering Design and Bill-of-Materials (BOM) as well as across engineering functions to improve overall part quality, cost, and design efficiency.
  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for any system quality/warranty issues detectable within the CAD / PLM digital toolset.
  • Lead systemic detection issue resolution within the design community, managing Digital Pre-Assembly (DPA) requirements & methods.
  • Lead developer for the strategic deployment of new tools/methods/process across the organization.

Qualifications

You'll have...

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience within Engineering Design / CAD / PLM activities.

  • Master's of Science in Engineering.
  • Critical thinker with the ability to motivate team members.
  • Proven history of methods/process development within the engineering design toolset.
  • Ability to collaborate with individuals across multiple organizations to achieve common goals.
  • Proven history of synthesizing information to develop meaningful data that can drive decision-making.
  • Knowledgeable in the application of Ford processes and quality tools to drive the business.
  • Demonstrated willingness to, and success in challenging redundant, obsolete, or non-value-added deliverables / tasks; focused on implementing high-quality, highly efficient processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
