The Underwriter Employee Benefits has established themselves as fully knowledgeable of our products and services and has been given more authority and latitude while still abiding by established premium levels by line of coverage. Their assigned cases are typically 2 to 1,000 lives and often require an analysis of current carrier claim verses premium in line of coverage pricing development. This requires an understanding of how various carriers report experience as well as plan design features. **
Key Job Responsibilities**
- Reviews and evaluates the completeness of submission of each assigned requests for proposals (RFPs). Looking for items that would be a risk concern or if more information is needed to proceed with a quote.
- The Underwriter Employee Benefits determines the level of discretion to be applied while managing while their relationship Sold to Formula.
- This position has Underwriting and risk binding authority (limited to premium levels by Line of Coverage and by certain plan design restrictions).
- This position must also work directly with our reinsurer as well as internal levels of authority on specific plan design elements and certain types of risk elements to gain their approvals where required by established guidelines.
- The Underwriter Employee Benefits is also tasked with complete and through file and system documentation while meeting or exceeding set Turn around Times for proposals. This means they must manage their case pipeline of assignments and tasks meeting or exceeding production and TAT goals.
The base salary range for this position is $54,000 - $81,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Required Qualifications**
- 2 to 3 years of Group Employee Benefits Underwriting experience with the following products: Group Life, LTD, STD, Dental, Vision, Accident, Critical Illness, AD&D and Hospital Indemnity
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant hands on work experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Established Customer Service skills and experience

Group Insurance: Knowledge of group insurance products, business processes, market segments and the marketplace; ability to run applications effectively for the insurance organization's business.
Insurance Legal and Regulatory Environment: Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations; ability to comply with these laws and regulations in insurance industry practices and activities.
Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.
Risk Analysis and Selection: Knowledge of risk analysis and selection; ability to utilize tools and techniques to analyze potential risk exposures and determine coverage.
