We are currently hiring for an Engineering Manager. Our Client is a leading software firm that enables higher education institutions to increase student success and graduation rates through community engagement. They are a SaaS company with 525+ campus partners and 4.5M+ students actively using the platform. They have a diverse and world class team poised for their next phase of rapid growth.
As the Engineering Manager, you will be overseeing the engineering operations in the UK. You will help lead a team of talented and highly collaborative engineers to ensure that the platform is reliable, scalable, maintainable, and provides the most value to customers. They work in an agile environment to deliver a full fledged product in a short cycle.
In terms of the role responsibilities, you will:
Monitor the architecture
Provide technical decision making support
Align with the global teams NL, North America and France) on the impact of technical choices.
Providing insight into the technical impact of functional requirements and aligning these
with the business
Implement the development standards within the team
Hold regular 1:1s with engineer team members
Help make decisions on technical issues and implementation details
Help to manage escalations quickly
Help unblock and move the team forward
Hold the team's engineering leads accountable to scrum artifacts
Review code with peers focused on improving team skills
You should:
At least 5 years of relevant experience, in a leadership engineering role such as Technical Lead, Product Manager, or Software Team Lead
Experience with software design and architecture
Experience with relational databases
Experience with DevOps; Cloud and container solutions such as GCP or AWS
Agile working and thinking attitude
Experience with python or java based web applications is a plus
Have extensive experience working with and leading mobile app engineering teams
Leadership experience managing teams that build & maintain business-critical web applications at scale, including the build and deployment process
Have strong writing and verbal communication skills, with experience leading an engineering team in a remote or distributed team environment
