Come Grow with Us and Join an Award-Winning Organization! Stearns Bank is looking for an Affordable Housing Commercial Lender. This is a remote-eligible position headquartered out of St. Cloud, Minnesota.
JOB SUMMARY
Develop and manage a commercial loan portfolio for the bank while meeting established lending requirements and providing maximum profitability to the bank with a minimum of risk.
Starting annual salary of $150,000.00. Employment offers will be dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interview loan applicants and collect and analyze financial data to determine the general creditworthiness of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request. Make presentations to loan committee for further advice on approval.
- Establish and negotiate where necessary the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment method, schedule, and collateral requirements.
- Promote and have knowledge of all Affordable Housing lending programs and other credit enhancement programs.
- Collect and analyze information that reflects the current creditworthiness of customers and the current merits of existing loans. Information may be obtained by direct inspection of the applicant's business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports and personal interview.
- Monitor and review assigned commercial loans on a regular and continuing basis; identify problem or delinquent loan accounts or those having an adverse impact on Bank profitability; initiate appropriate corrective actions on delinquent accounts on a timely basis; refer problem accounts to manager as required or needed.
- Ensure adequate documentation, adherence to established bank policy, and compliance with banking laws and regulations exists on all bank assets assigned for supervision. Exercise sound credit decisions relating to the banks credit underwriting and management.
- Keep abreast of new developments and trends in the commercial loan market; identify potential lending opportunities and participate in the development and implementation of plans and programs to respond to these opportunities.
- Provide assistance to co-workers as needed. Ensure prompt and courteous response to customer inquiries.
- Maintain working knowledge of all legal and regulatory compliance issues as they pertain to Affordable Housing lending.
- Loss prevention and security as applicable for this position.
- Travel as needed.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
- 5+ year’s experience in commercial lending or credit (preferable in affordable housing) or in affordable housing development.
- Existing knowledge of the affordable lending programs available throughout the country
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent sales and negotiation skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Flexible.
