Lead I - Software Testing

You Are

Participate and coordinate testing aspects of large projects using client-server technologies. Perform and coordinate mainly manual testing efforts to support development projects and enhancements to production systems. Communicate results of testing to project team members and work with members to understand testing objectives to ensure that problems are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.

The Opportunity

  • Works with the Business and Development Leads and helps the team make risk-based decisions
  • Participates in scrum teams working on short sprints and ensure on-time delivery with high quality
  • Analyzes functional requirements and translates the requirements into written test plans and detailed test cases, for both front-end (UI-based) and back-end/database SQL Server) Applications
  • Works with offshore team to define and review testing approach and monitor results of execution
  • Designs test cases and validate test data elements required for Health Plan Quote to Cart solution;
  • Documents, troubleshoots and isolates problems encountered during testing
  • Designs requirements for traceability matrices
  • Accountable for achieving good levels of operating efficiencies on assigned tasks and problems
  • Tracks defects in the Defect tracker and reports defects and results to the project team
  • Manages Quality Assurance staff.
  • Evaluates employees to ensure the best utilization of unit talent.
  • Identifies team-staffing needs and takes necessary measures to ensure appropriate levels of service.
  • Ensures efficient and effective use of resources, evaluates processes and procedures, and develops new procedures for their unit.
  • Develops unit’s goals, objectives, processes, and procedures.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the unit’s core functions and industry best practices.
  • Participates in activities performed by the team.
  • Mentors employees and develops career paths with growth opportunities.
  • Works with minimum supervision and exercises sufficient discretion and independent judgment.
  • Provides guidance and encourages/motivates employees in their daily efforts.
  • Participates in the development of the annual departmental budget, monitors budget, and identifies budget discrepancies.
  • Research cause and make recommendations.
  • Responsibility for balancing workload to optimize the effectiveness of the department.

What You Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Data Management/Statistics, Technical Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Combinations of relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Six plus years of progressively responsible experience in an information systems environment which provides the necessary skills, knowledge, and abilities required.
  • Three years of management, supervisory, or functional lead experience, or a combination of related training and experience is required.
  • A basic understanding of insurance is required.
  • Quality Assurance process and team leadership experience required.
  • Additionally, this position requires demonstrated knowledge and expertise in a broad range of information technology applications and infrastructures, as well as knowledge of how these technologies can be leveraged to solve business needs.
  • Healthcare background, claims or billing will be a plus
  • Substantial Manual Testing
  • Functional automation with QTP or Selenium is a plus
  • Experience/knowledge of the Agile process is a plus.
  • Experience with SQL queries is mandatory
  • Expert knowledge of Quality Assurance processes, including automated testing and test strategy.
  • Knowledge of team building and employee motivation theories with the ability to effectively manage a single cohesive functional employee team.
  • Ability to interact with others to build consensus and get decisions implemented.
  • Ability to apply the principles of independent logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability and proficiency in the use of computers and company standard software specific to the position, including spreadsheets and the Internet.
  • Ability to effectively develop and present the unit’s standard metrics and status reports, and respond to questions

Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. As required by local law, UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in California, Colorado, New York City, or Washington as set forth below.

Role Location: Range of Starting Pay for Role

Remote: $62,000-$92,000

Our full-time, regular associates are eligible for 401K matching, and vacation accrual and are covered from day 1 for paid sick time, healthcare, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance benefits. Depending on the role, some associates may also be eligible for stock options.
