The impact you will make:**

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Associate Director, Commercial Execution to join our growing US Sales and Marketing team. We want someone who cares about this important work, and who is driven to connect to our mission of helping these patient communities. The Associate Director, Commercial Execution will play an instrumental role in providing strategic input and operational support to the US Sales and Marketing team. They will build strong relationships with the US leadership team and enhance their understanding of enterprise structure and function. The role will have the opportunity to experience unique situations and make valuable impact.

We are seeking individuals with a demonstrated track record of success in launching drugs within the rare disease space. The individual should possess a scrappy “start-up” mentality and values consistent with the patient centric and science focused Agios culture. This individual should be motivated by the opportunity to bring a rare disease commercialization mindset and to build their markets which will lay the foundation for the success of PYRUKYND and Agios’ pipeline of transformative rare genetic disease treatments.

The AD, Commercial Execution will report to the VP, US Sales and Marketing and will be responsible for helping accelerate PYRUKYND growth and prepare the organization for the launch of unbranded disease education campaigns in Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Disease. **

What you will do:**

  • Leverage sales experience to provide interim coverage for vacant sales territories, as needed, to provide continuity in efforts to raise awareness of Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKD)
  • Work with all field and marketing teams to ensure alignment on objectives, strategies, and communication plans.
  • Partner compliantly with cross-functional colleagues to proactively analyze and address market dynamics to support brand and portfolio objectives.
  • Leverage approved corporate, promotional, and other resources to facilitate customer engagements.
  • Represent Agios positively and professionally at company meetings and conferences.
  • Monitor and understand best practices and competitive tactics within the field, based upon market and consumer trends.
  • Develop a strategy and approach for accessing complex healthcare institutions and accounts based on data/analyses/insights.
  • Evaluate progress against tactics and continue to evolve programs for success.
  • Ensure the achievement of assigned forecast by optimizing team performance through coaching, support, development, and driving a winning culture.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 7 years industry experience; Proven track record of success in Rare Disease sales; minimum 5 years’ sales experience in rare disease. Hematology/Oncology sales experience preferred.
  • Understanding of complex healthcare systems, networks & institutions
  • Experience in building disease awareness and launching first in class therapies.
  • Demonstrated business acumen with large/strategic/national account management skills.
  • Previous cross functional collaboration with internal stakeholders including marketing, medical affairs, market access, patient services, and sales operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the payer and clinical landscape, especially in specialty & rare diseases
  • Demonstrated understanding of the legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements for pre- and post-approval activities
  • Results-oriented with ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results.
  • Strong, resourceful, self-starter with an innovative mindset and ability to develop and execute new business solutions.

  • Willingness to travel extensively across large geographies.

Travel Requirements:

  • Both virtual or in-person meetings are facilitated as needed and appropriate. Travel requirement may be up to 75% nationally focusing on coverage for vacancies and needs.

Location Specific – Field/Remote: This is a remote based field position. Regular conversations with manager are encouraged to ensure alignment on in-person presence/expectations. Travel may be required commensurate to the above job description and/or to attend team meetings and other company events. **
