Job Description

The Senior Storage Engineer will be responsible for providing a stable, well performing storage environment for the enterprise. The role will provide guidance, analysis and recommendations to the department on all storage subsystems and components while acting as a lead to design and implement new technologies. The incumbent will ensure data backup and recovery for the storage environments. **

Responsibilities**

  • Designs, plans, installs, tests, debugs and implements storage system components and processes
  • Plans, coordinates, implements and configures various types of storage infrastructure (San switches, storage arrays, backup/recovery hardware and software, storage appliances, etc.)
  • Maintains and/or enhances storage system tools and processes related to Storage Area Network (SAN), Backup/Archive and Recovery, Data Replication systems, Software solutions, Network Attached Storage (NAS) and System-Managed Storage (SMS)
  • Mentors junior level Enterprise Storage Engineers on all system components
  • Troubleshoots storage infrastructure equipment as it relates to application and performance issues
  • Designs, plans and provides Storage support for new applications
  • Documents and maintains storage assets for multi-location storage environment
  • Acts as Disaster Recovery Lead Engineer and responsible for BCP Tests and outcomes

Qualifications

  • 4+ years w/Bachelor's degree
  • Experience in an enterprise environment with experience in backup tools
  • Experience in supporting complex computer systems/applications as it relates to storage
  • Ability to understand business plans and apply that information into the development of an IT business case
  • Anticipates problems, resistance or likely objections and takes action to resolve them
  • Ability to lead and manage small to large enterprise network implementations or changes
  • Ability to guide, train and mentor associate engineers
  • Highly skilled in developing quantitative cost/benefit analysis to measure improvements
  • Proficient in organizational processes as well as capable of assessing and initiating change of such processes
  • Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge and application of competency and can consult as well as lead others in its application

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $92,000 - $196,500 **
