The impact you will make:**

Agios Pharmaceuticals is searching for a dynamic Manager, Packaging Supply Chain Engineer to join our growing Supply Chain team. Agios outsources all cGMP packaging operations to third party CMOs. The selected individual will be responsible for technical aspects of commercial packaging and will have full exposure across early clinical to new commercial product launches. This role will primarily support packaging operations but will also have responsibilities in other aspects of Supply Chain Operations. **

What you will do:**

Packaging Engineering

  • Will be responsible for technical ownership in commercial packaging operations at CMOs including packaging specifications, components, change controls, deviations. Support supplier operations to ensure production is executed on time and in full.
  • Implement continuous improvements to existing commercial packaging processes.
  • Support development and validation of the packaging processes for new products or new markets including North America, EU and Rest of World markets.
  • Support of regulatory filings to support packaging process, components, and artwork.
  • Align with serialization team on worldwide serialization requirements and ensure all aspects of packaging comply with market regulations.
  • Support commercial artwork changes for existing commercial products and collaborate with artwork team to develop new artwork for new product or market launches
  • Contribute as technical owner in cross functional team consisting of Regulatory, Commercial Marketing, CMC and Quality to design new market packages.
  • Provide technical support to CMC and Clinical Supply Chain to evaluate early phase clinical packaging and advise on any clinical packaging production technical issues.
  • Provide support and oversight for all packaging components upstream in the supply chain, including API, Drug Product and Key Materials.

Operations Support

  • Support cross functional teams to execute cGMP activities for end-to-end Commercial Supply Chain Operations for DS, DP and packaging with CMO partners
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Planning and Technical Operation teams to ensure that CMO manufacturing performance aligns with commercial manufacturing plans, lead times, inventory policies, capacity constraints and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with Finance and Cost accounting team to ensure proper inventory accounting financial reporting. Provide data entry, and data analysis of production activities throughout the supply chain utilizing ERP system.

What you bring:

  • Degree in Packaging or Chemical Engineering discipline.
  • 5+ year of pharmaceutical packaging engineering experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office and MS Project.
  • Ability to Travel 25% for production or supplier oversight.
  • Must be detail focused with an ability to influence suppliers and projects with minimal oversight yet work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Degree in Packaging engineering
  • Experience with new product launches
  • Experience with ex-US product supply and regulatory requirements including EU and Asia Pacific Markets

Work Location:

Location Agnostic: Work location for this role is based on employee's individual preference. This role has the ability to be either remote in the US or hybrid in our Cambridge Headquarters. Hybrid schedules vary but are generally less than 3 days per week onsite and hybrid employees are expected to live within commutable distance to our Cambridge Headquarters. Remote employees work entirely from home except for attending Company sponsored events/ meetings. For employees who choose to work remotely, travel may be required for certain company events commensurate to the above job description. **
