Job Purpose:
This position will be based in a key African capital city. As a Business Development Manager for Africa for Sulphites; the responsibility involves the following:
Study the Sulphite market in African region: and have a region-wise East, West, North, South, and Central Africa; application-wise strategy for increasing the sales for all the products of the Company.
Create a comprehensive execution-oriented long- and short-term sales and marketing strategy for Africa
Grow top‐line sales & bottom‐line profitability for all products as per budget
To focus on developing new business in the mining segment and our reach in Africa thereby expanding the business to newer geographies thereby spreading our presence in Africa
To explore and map the customers & markets based on applications and create direct supply chain to end-users for realizing higher contribution
Developing newer packaging/catalogs to improve the brand image of the sulphites division in the African market
Finalization of various MIS/market reports, required by the management, by coordinating with other marketing and finance executives and import/export statistics.
Achieve mutually agreed and aggressive sales targets for new and existing product lines in African countries with existing distributors, and create new national distributions in additional African countries where we have negligible or nil sales.
Job Context & Major Challenges
In order to leverage on the strengths of all chemical’s units operating in Thailand (Phosphates, Sulphites, Hydrogen Peroxide, Epoxy and Chlor –Alkali), they have been merged under common name – Aditya Birla Chemicals (Thailand) Limited. With each business growing in size, it became imperative to split the marketing team of phosphates, sulphites and peroxide. Business Development Manager position was then created to have extra focus on certain regions and on speciality products.
About the Company: It was set up in 1994 to manufacture in different grades with a capacity of 22,000 TPA serving to Textiles, Pulp & Paper, Leather Tannery, Detergent, Water Treatment, Mines and Food industries. With a vision to be number one player in the world for sulphites and its aggressive marketing approach unit has increased the capacity to 130,000 MT in 2023.

To introduce new products based on Sulphur chemistry

Key account management in mining segment
To implement sales for product as per budget.
To reduce overdue days
Effective market planning for fetching higher realisations.
To manage logistics and update and act on potential shipping
delays (if any) and status to customers.
Business Delivery:
To achieve the budgeted export sales targets for the region
To focus on global demand and supply situation and to look for opportunities to expand
To closely monitor competitors moves
Formulation of short term and long-term marketing strategy mainly for SMBS, SS & speciality products to enhance sales
To explore segments/markets giving high contribution margins
Translate product strategy into detailed requirements; Scope and prioritize activities based on business and customer impact
To continuously find ways to gain competitive edge through product differentiation
Region wise/segment wise analysis
To support all team members on market development, market information, update scenario, stock position, planning
Monitor the performance of Sulphites for all the regions; Facilitate development of high impact sales tools
Seamless Execution - Receivable Management
Coordination with HO at Thailand for proper execution
Coordination with logistics for timely execution of orders
Communicate the customers about steps taken or initiatives taken to their complaints
Educate customers for new developments.
To monitor monthly sales and make 3 months rolling production plan for the region.
Periodic review of account receivables and overdue and to control it within targeted level
