Technology Aspect
To establish a clear duty of care, Stellar Virtual and its affiliates require all employees to cover the costs associated with acquiring and providing the equipment (i.e., computers, internet service, telephone, home office setup, etc.) associated with virtual employment.
Position Overview
As a Special Programs Contractor, you will play a crucial role in supporting the administration of special education and related programs in a remote learning environment. Your meticulous record-keeping and administrative skills will contribute to the success of our special education team and ensure compliance with regulations. This contract position will support all areas of Special Programs (Special Education, 504, Emergent Bilingual, and Gifted and Talented) and will work to maintain databases and records, scheduling, transfer records, notifications to teachers and parents, and meeting deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Help articulate the school's mission and vision with the aim of ensuring all stakeholders have a common understanding and are positioned to work cooperatively to achieve desired results.
- Schedule meetings, update databases, and transfer records.
- Emergent bilingual, special education, and 504 record keeping.
- Ensuring accommodations are distributed.
- Maintain confidentiality on all job-related matters.
- Provide information to parents as requested.
- Communicate and promote high expectations for student performance and behavior.
- Participate in establishing and maintaining a positive school climate.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledgeable of applicable and relevant federal, state, and local laws when it comes to special programs (Special Education, 504, Emergent Bilingual, and Gifted and Talented).
- Experience in ESPED is a plus
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time-management skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently
- Experience using computer-based programs
- Progress monitoring
- Knowledge and implementation of accommodations
- Strong consultation skills for conferencing with counselors, school districts, parents, and students
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, ESL Education, Communications, or other related fields is preferred;
- The ability to speak Spanish fluently is preferred but not required;
- Experience working with students, parents, and educational agencies;
- Experience involving Special Education, 504, Emergent Bilingual, and Gifted and Talented.
