Job Description

The WTJO D&R (Design & Release) Engineer is responsible to design, develop, validate and release parts under his/her responsibility for the assigned programs. The WTJO D&R is also responsible to look for design improvements to increase quality and cost / weight optimization. The WTJO D&R engineer is responsible to design parts in order to comply with Corporate and Local Requirements for parts validation, considering the WCR (Worldwide Customers Requirements), ES (Engineering Specifications) and SDS (Systems Design specifications) as well as the Manufacturing and Assembly requirements. The engineer is also responsible of parts incorporation at the Assembly Plant. **

Responsibilities**

  • Understand and apply product development process to wheels/tires/jacks/ornaments.
  • Responsible for D&R of Wheels, Ornaments and Tires within Ford of Mexico
  • Comply with Program cost, weight, quality, performance and timing targets.
  • Understand and apply Global Product Development Process.
  • Follow Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Failure Mode Avoidance).
  • Knowledge and application of Six Sigma and 8D (Issue Resolution).
  • Develop ESOW (Engineering Statement of Work) and participate in the Sourcing Process (ED&T review, piece and tooling cost review and sourcing agreements).
  • Follow the TDR process (Technical Design Review).
  • Release parts In the Bill of Materials through product life cycle.
  • Support the Change Control Process.
  • Audit and update BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.
  • Be aware of Worldwide Engineering changes and proceed accordingly.
  • Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per Global Specifications (DVP / FEDE).
  • Launch issues resolution.
  • Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level.
  • Parts implementation/Sign-off in assembly plant & assistance with quality issues in all milestones.
  • Product Direction Letter's revisions and proceed accordingly if affected.
  • Support Plant Teams as required.
  • Jointly with purchasing, identify potential suppliers to develop identified parts to be localized.
  • Jointly with Supplier Technical Assistant give technical support to supplier through the Supplier Engagement Process.
  • Comply with objectives set through the year.
  • Interact with Vehicle Dynamics, Program teams, CAD, Suppliers, and Vehicle Engineering.

  • Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Aeronautic, Automotive Engineering
