Tasks
As a Senior DevOps System Engineer, you lead customer projects, solve engineering challenges, and support our customers as part of our managed services team.
Your task and duties will include:
- acting as a technical lead in projects with a broader scope that require a substantial amount of customization or adaptation of standard solutions and involve multiple internal and external contributors
- engineering, reverse-engineering, and challenging requirements, and getting them approved by ensuring that they are correct, without contradictions, and complete
- maintaining, configuring, and upgrading complex and critical systems (e.g., multi-cluster/disaster recovery), applying advanced installation methods (e.g., UPI, offline installations), and managing exceptional maintenance (e.g. security incidents)
- creating comprehensive documentation, including proper diagrams and detailed user guidance, and describing concepts in a concise way
- leading customer meetings on complex topics and establishing a constructive relationship with the customer
Requirements
Must-Have Hard Skills
- You have at least five years of work experience as a system engineer in a Linux-centric environment.
- You have good knowledge in current open-source technologies as well as Cloud and DevOps customer journeys and/or enterprise IT requirements (e.g., IAM, Web/App Servers, Collaboration, Groupware, Database, Virtualization, Containers, Linux Clustering, Systems Management).
- You can write code that maintains at least basic system functionality in the face of various errors and exceptions by implementing automatic recovery and sophisticated error handling mechanisms.
- You can give presentations at small to midsize external events (e.g., meet-ups) in English.
- You are able to understand the interplay between different systems (i.e., the relationships and interfaces across multiple platforms/technologies) from both a technical and business point of view and to design cross-system operations and support processes.
