Our Firm celebrated its 100th year in 2022 and seeks keep evolving its ways of success. This opportunity in the Edward Jones Legal Division is part of the firm's expansion to enhance solutions for millions of investor clients and their families.

Edward Jones seeks an experienced attorney with transactional law experience and a passion for building up a business to make it even better. The ideal candidate will have deep transactional experience in a law firm and in a large in-house corporate legal environment. Given the nature of our industry, financial services experience is ideal. The ideal candidate will also be able to prioritize effectively, think strategically, see the big picture as well as important details, and will be able to develop solutions and provide practical, risk-balanced advice. Candidates should be prepared to speak to a variety of transactions worked on and their role in the transaction when applying.

The candidate for this role needs to be highly motivated. The position requires strong collaboration, an aptitude for continual learning, demonstration of intellectual curiosity by asking questions and connecting work across multiple initiatives, ability to identify and mitigate risks in new and evolving areas of law, and an ability to influence firm leaders.

This position involves working with business leaders to develop solutions that serve our clients' best interests and deliver an exceptional experience for our branch teams, clients, and the firm. The work is dynamic and requires the ability to look beyond the specific legal questions to understand the goals of the business and contribute to getting to the best solution. This role will afford the successful candidate the opportunity to be a part of a culture that inspires and supports the individual and allows them to be part of a team focused on delivering solutions. **

Key Responsibilities**

  • Active involvement in all aspects of sophisticated transactions, including negotiations, due diligence, agreement drafting and advising internal constituents
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day support and advice to the firm on a wide variety of issues
  • Close collaboration with business leaders and legal colleagues, as well as with outside counsel when appropriate Identify and assess potential liability to the firm, its affiliates, and its associates
  • Identify legal issues early on and proactively address them, knowing when and how to involve key stakeholders across the firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle matters independently, while exercising good judgment on when a matter needs to be escalated.
  • Communicate effectively with other attorneys, professionals, associates, and leaders
  • Integrate self into and across the firm and especially with valued business partners

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Hiring Minimum: $146663

Hiring Maximum: $249723 **

Skills/Requirements**

  • Juris Doctorate and license to practice in Missouri or an equivalent state
  • A minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility as an attorney in private practice, in the public sector, or in an in-house counsel capacity.
  • Experience in all types of transactions necessary and in strategic partnerships preferred
  • A combination of law firm and in-house counsel experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and desire to work collaboratively with others
  • Possesses exceptional legal knowledge, judgment, work ethic, and integrity
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of relevant legal area and regulatory environment
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex matters

Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday. **
