Position Overview:**
Koniag Management Solutions (KMS) is looking for a highly qualified Instructional Designer and Technologist to support our government customer located in Fort Eustis, VA. This opportunity offers the chance to work with some of the best and brightest minds in the Department of Defense (DoD) and US Industry to develop and implement Training and Education (T&E) products and support services for the Department of the Army and its Army Virtual Learning Environment (AVLE) 2.0. **
Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:**
AVLE 2.0 is a revolutionary concept that will shift the way the Army develops and delivers training and education products to the total force. AVLE 2.0 leverages new learning using technologies in courseware design and delivery to enable the execution of rigorous, relevant, and tailorable learning content at the point of need. The AVLE 2.0 provides a total Army capability that will enable a dynamic learning environment to support the Active, Reserve and Army Civilian professional workforce with products developed at the newly defined interactivity levels of 0 through 4. AVLE 2.0 provides the Army with the ability to achieve a more effective and efficient T&E environment that will establish the conditions that are vital for the preparation of mission-ready Soldiers, leaders, civilians, and organizations. AVLE 2.0 provides T&E, which can be delivered anytime and anywhere, with or without an instructor, to new and varied delivery platforms. The successful candidate will provide the following:
Provides support for the design, development, and production of instructional materials.
- Provides technical support and training on the Learning Management System (LMS) and other instructional technology.
- Research and integrate various educational technologies to improve the design and delivery of online course content and multimedia materials or other technology applications that will enhance and improve student learning.
- Streamline T&E courses for optimized learning.
- Determine the efficiency of course design, transfer courses into online formats and create course manuals for instructors or students.
- Analyze and propose fixes for any disconnections between the students’ learning performance and the T&E tools.
- Define and document learning objectives.
- Conduct research and collaborate with the team’s subject experts.
- Create instructional material to include courses, curriculum, student guides, instructor guides and training manuals.
- Design content to optimize learning.
- Redesign content to ensure it matches the students’ needs.
- Create visual, audio, and interactive learning tools.
- Design and develop interactive instructional multimedia content for AVLE 2.0 at various interactivity levels (0 through 4)
- Conduct needs assessments and task analyses to identify learning objectives and performance outcomes.
- Apply instructional design models and principles to create effective and engaging learning experiences, utilizing appropriate instructional strategies, media, and technologies.
- Develop storyboards, scripts, and prototypes, incorporating immersive multimedia or computer-simulated virtual or augmented reality elements as needed.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and validate content.
- Create assessments, quizzes, and simulations to measure learner performance and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with standards and specifications for e-learning, such as SCORM and accessibility guidelines.
- Conduct formative and summative evaluations of content to assess its effectiveness, gather feedback from learners, and make necessary revisions.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends, research, and best practices in instructional design, interactive multimedia, and immersive learning technologies.
- Collaborate with the project team to ensure smooth integration of instructional content into the AVLE 2.0 platform.
- Provide training and support to users, including instructors and learners, to facilitate effective utilization of the learning environment.
Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- M.S. of Education (Specialization in Instructional Systems Design or Instructional Design Technology)
- Minimum of five (5) years of paid experience developing DL content at novice through expert levels using interactive instructional multimedia
- Experience with Level 4 IMI - immersive multimedia or computer-simulated virtual or augmented reality, in which the learner engages in a real-life scenario responding to sensory cues is a plus.
- Knowledge of the US Army, TRADOC or The Army Distributed Learning Program (TADLP) is a plus.
Working Environment & Conditions
This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
