This position is available fully remote. We are conveniently located near CalTrain, and Highways 280 and 101. We also offer a flexible schedule so employees can work remotely when necessary. **

What You’ll Do**

• Work with SMEs from TechOps and SRE
• Develop internal process documentation, runbooks, and training material
• Write technical documents for technical people
• Translate complex ideas into plain language
• Organize and maintain technical documentation in Confluence
• Create flowcharts and network diagrams
• Follow the Backblaze style guide
• Revise existing documents for accuracy and style
• Work with Compliance to ensure SOP meets data security requirements

The Right Fit

• Expert understanding of English grammar and punctuation
• Demonstrated ability to write in plain language
• Comfortable with Atlassian Confluence and Markdown
• Strong interpersonal communication skills
• Linux command line experience
• Ability to learn quickly and willingness to ask a lot of questions
• Excellent problem-solving, investigative, and troubleshooting skills
• Critical thinking skills
• 1-3 years of experience in a technical role
• 1-3 years of experience as a technical writer
• Seeking an entry-level or mid-level position

Writing Sample

• Submit 1-3 writing samples including at least 1 process document.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Lucidchart
• Experience working at a technology/software startup
• Linux experience
• Experience in a production support role
• Familiarity with configuration management and automation software (Ansible preferred)
• Understanding of server and storage system hardware and configurations

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all US-based job postings regardless of state. We set standard base pay ranges for all roles based on function, level, and country location, benchmarked against similar-stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, skills, depth of work experience, and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.

The base pay range for this position is $90,000 to $140,000.
