We are pleased to announce a US-based Software Engineering internship position with the Posit Connect team in 2025. Posit Connect delivers value to businesses by empowering data scientists to rapidly deploy custom reports and applications. These artifacts, written in Python, R, Quarto, and more, allow data scientists to tell stories with data and solve real-world problems. Connect solves the challenges of putting code into production, such as environment management and authentication, without requiring constant intervention from administrators.
This is a full-time paid internship for 12 weeks, starting June 2025. Everyone is welcome to apply: you do not need to be a student to be eligible for an internship. The compensation rate for this position is $25/hr, assuming 40 hours each week. Applicants must be residents of the United States and legally authorized to work in the US. Since Posit is a geographically distributed team, you can be based anywhere in the country.
The goal of the 2025 Posit Connect internship is to write code, build examples, and create public guides and documentation to support Posit Connect’s integrations with enterprise systems. You’ll own your projects from start to finish, researching options, implementing solutions, testing your work and seeing it through to a customer release.
You’ll collaborate with experienced engineers in a fully remote environment while gaining hands-on experience with Python and R. You’ll get to work directly with the tools used by data scientists as you build integrations and create examples that demonstrate their functionality. You’ll also have the chance to explore other languages and technologies used to develop Posit Connect.
You have experience writing code and are comfortable using Git and GitHub. To demonstrate these skills, your application should include a link to a Git repository with a package, app, data analysis or other software project. It’s totally fine if you create something specifically for this application - we want to see that you’re familiar with collaborative software development.
You learn fast, especially when it comes to picking up new programming languages. If you’re familiar with Python or R and SQL, that’s a plus! Experience with data science workflows and tools, such as working with APIs, databases and cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure) or data platforms (e.g. Databricks, Snowflake) is a nice bonus but not required.
Most importantly, you’re curious and proactive. You enjoy tackling challenges, coming up with solutions quickly and working both independently and collaboratively in a remote setting. You communicate well, stay organized and are excited to contribute to real projects that impact customers.
The posting will remain open until filled, but for a full review, best to get your application in by March 28th, 2025.
Are you excited about this role but not sure if your experience aligns with every qualification in the job description? That’s okay. We know multiple perspectives are essential for a thriving organization and we'd still love to hear from you!
